Been playing this for a while now and been training up my crews on the lvl 2 tanks of Russian and Germany got a few lvl 3's opened up.. Should I continue rolling with lvl 2 to get crews trained a bit higher or should I bit the bullet and start using lvl 3 tanks ?

I would train your crews a touch more, especially in terms of driver vitality, loader weapon reloading and vitality, and gunner aiming and rangefinding. Then bring all of your crews repair abilities up equally.
Level 3 is not like jumping from level 1 to level 2. It is an exponential curve of difficulty, getting even worse as you go to level 4 and 5.
Make sure all of your tanks are fully upgraded, too.
You can take out level 3s that are the same battle ratings as your best level 2s, tho, as they will put you in the same matches. But get your existing tanks to a decent state before you put new ones in there.

Personally I'm looking forward to the SturmHaubitze 42, which they've already said will be a Tier 2. Granted, that means nothing for its' BR but it may become the next '105mm Sherman' and be an utter wrecking machine until they give it a sensible BR. Here's hoping!
Well this game keeps getting better. Yesterday I read up about the different ammo types and came to realise that it's not all about penetration!! I changed my SU-76 and T34 ammo to the armour piercing high explosive (I think that's right) and the one-shot kills just wouldn't stop ! A kill streak of 13 had me very happy indeed. Thankfully not everyone who plays this game pays attention to these things.
I also have my KV2 to play with now
. Is it best to team it with the KV1 and T34?
Finally, it may be obvious but I'm at work at the moment and can't check, but is there a way to see whether other members of the OcUK squadrom are playing at the same time as me, or whether I can set a preference to join their games??

It is best to team up with other KV2's in the same squad, because nothing scares the poop out of an enemy team than the incoming firepower of a WW2 light cruiser!
But yes, good partners in your lineup for the KV2 are the KV1 Zis and the T34-57.
You should be able to see the squadron chat window as well as the 'general' chat which is just filled with spam. Sometimes people talk there, but it's a good idea to get people added on Steam and catch up with them there, as not everyone looks at the squadron chat window regularly.
Good game with Kutter and Boycey last night. By the end we were dominating in our three Tiger's

As the above shows, KV2 best when teamed with other KV2.
Gives firing range boost of +15, and accuracy buff of +23, per KV2 you are squadded with.
In this clip, I had a team of 50 KV2's sat behind me, which allowed for this across-map-one-shot kill

I actually have a night of not running around like a headless chicken tonight.
I have some stuff to work on in the flat, but other than that I am free to WT until my fingers fall off.
Does anyone fancy squadding up to run some 3.3 max BR planes for a few, then move into heavy tanks? I have a "Thunderer - Antimech" wager running, and need some help to get the last 7 wins on it, then I'm free to play whatever.
Maybe a bit of Sim tanks?
Also, WT, I kan haz?
It will make my Simulator and Realistic battles much more effective. I am assuming, ofcourse, that I get bombs aswel...

That's like, Hellcat... bringing the whole rest of the OcUK squadron to battle, and only showing up on the radar as a single dot!

nope no bombs, you get to drop each of the planes one at a time, then nose dive your own plane into the enemy
