I think I'm a bit... fed up, with War Thunder to be honest.
The underlying game mechanics haven't changed or adapted much (hardly at all) since I started playing. Certain things are largely broken, and end up spoiling certain aspects of the game, and no matter how many complaints, or helpful suggestions that are put forward on the official forum, Gaijin simply do not listen to their player base.
Instead, they seem far too busy on filling their game with premium one-off tanks and planes, and adding tier 5 stuff (Hunter and T92?!?) which most people will never own due to the ever-increasing massiveness of the grind, and are therefore only in as blatant cash-grabs.
The game can be fun at times, but the matchmaking is still ridiculously broken. I don't really want to be fighting biplanes when I have 20mm cannon armed fast monoplanes, and neither do I want to be facing BR 4.3 planes when I have a BR 3.0 lineup (which happens far more frequently than it should)
And sadly, gone are some of the "fun" elements of the game, in favour of pseudo-realism.
Gone is the LA-5 of the Red Bull Air racer days, where its' roll rate was less than 1s for a full 360 roll, and you could dance around the skies laughing in the face of your enemies.
Gone is the Troll-tastic H6K of doom, and its' ability to cap airfields whilst shredding biplanes with its' 20mm rear cannon while absorbing thousands of 7mm bullets whilst laughing gloriously.
Sure, some of this kind of thing died in favour of balance - but with it, some of the fun got killed too. I'm not entirely convinced that Gaijin knows how to create a 'fun' game - some of the fun seems to have come along almost by accident, rather than by design.
Daily login rewards? Rewards which REQUIRE you to have the full game client installed, so that anyone on holiday or not able to access their PC for a short while loses out on any decent rewards? (And the less said about that garbage, the better. Remember x5 XP weekends anyone? Ha!)
British tanks. One last hurrah, one final grind some way up the tech tree, and then that may be the end of my War Thundering exploits. Hopefully they won't be too diabolical to play, and I do look forward to sending 17pdr shells into smug T34's and wrecking them so hard!
