******Official War Thunder Thread*******

Have fun, don't get too frustrated with the planes when you first fly them. Most of the planes don't fly too well until you get upgrades for them. Try and upgrade your guns and ammo first, the default ammo is rubbish.

Upgrade your pilot vitality first then the reload speed on your guns, this will enable you to survive longer and shoot people down faster.

Don't rush through the tiers, spend sometime at lvl1 learning how to fly and maneuver. it will help keep you alive in higher tiers.

check out Entak www.youtube.com/user/SihteGaming and Jingles www.youtube.com/user/BohemianEagle for some tips.

and finally come join the OcUK Squad, ask to join on here then hit us up in game :)

Nah, I just make it look easy :p not.

Do you use Joystick then?

Yeah, using joystick. Lately I've been following some guides to tweak the inputs which has helped quite a bit in keeping my aim steady on target for longer. Still at a big disadvantage when it comes to aiming though but I do find I can dogfight better than KB&Mousers, at least it seems I can generally out turn them (given an otherwise equal fight).

guys, are you still using my teamspeak server?

If so it might be down for 24hrs soon as I am moving host. Will try and keep downtime to a minimum.

Just started playing this, have been in a few battles with fury and Tuck's plane but not sure what i should be doing.

Tuck's gladiator is a premium plane that you've (possibly accidentally) bought with some of your allocation of free Golden Eagles, and it's fully upgraded. It's pretty good at the level you're going to be flying at right now, but I'd describe it as an "all-rounder" - i.e. it doesn't excel at any one area.

Game basics - fly around, try not to get shot down, get on the tail of an enemy plane and use middle-mouse button to target them. Shoot in front of the targeting circle, the distance depending on the angle you're attacking the plane from. (This is the hard part to learn)

Don't shoot from over 800m, it's a waste of ammo and you'll hit nothing. With biplanes, try to lower the distance to around 500m before you fire, or even less if you can. Avoid going head-to-head if at all possible, as you usually both end up dead, by ramming and no-one gets a reward for it.

Ground attack - AAA units and armoured cars are vulnerable to machine gun bullets, but tanks are largely impervious. .50 cal AP bullets and larger will damage the rear of light tanks, but by that point you're better off using bombs and rockets.

TS is still being used, gratefully so :)

Don't worry at all about downtime as far as I'm concerned, these things have to happen occasionally.

I always love a good video :) I'm up for providing some clips. Not sure exactly what you wanted so had a quick game, got some footage and uploaded it to youtube so you can see. Say whether anything here is usable, close to what you want or a million miles away lol.

This is just from a single game, just to get a feeling of the sort of stuff you're after from us.

Defrag, mate, that was brilliant. I especially enjoyed the "Kill->close pass-> Kill" thing you were doing. Lots of action in one vid.
I'm trying to think of some music to put it to. Found a few good Korn songs that might work.
Any other suggestions?

You idiot Brainchild.

Only Top Gun soundtrack music can be used on our videos :D

Unlocked the B17 yesterday, got an important interview tomorrow morning so wont really be on tonight but tomorrow evening onward should be back to normal :)

Ok, so... lastnight was interesting.

I logged in to do my multipliers, only to find there was a patch to load. So load I did, like a good sheep. Only to find that, once complete, pressing the GAME button on the title screen gave me the message "unable to locate aces.exe. Please make the file available and try again" or something similar.
This happened every time I tried, even after a restart.
So I deleted my entire War Thunder folder, and reinstalled it.
Or I would have, if Steam and my newly-broken internet connection didn't decide to gang up and bum me with Steam Login failures for an hour solid, despite changing the password TWICE via account recovery.

So by 11pm I finally get Steam to login again. And even manage to get WT downloading. That will be a 4 hour wait, thank you.
FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...

But, Mr. Spangles, that leaves me with only about 12 songs, and lots of those are LOVE songs! I cannot work under these conditions...

Although if anyone would like to mix "Playing with the boys" with Boyceys voice saying "Boyce" instead every time, I will make sure it gets used :D

How would one go about doing this? :D

Who needs enemies when you have a team like this....:(

Just purchased myself the Mk.1A Mustang. Really enjoying it, despite climb rate and altitude performance being poop :) Otherwise its a nice supporting aircraft in my view.

BUT, the devs got the Green/Grey camouflage completely wrong, the shades are *very* off.

Blimey Delboy, that's pretty rough!

The bottom 6 players lost a total of 25 aircraft, to achieve a single enemy kill....

It does make me wonder how these people actually get up to tier 2/3/4 gameplay - have they literally just paid for everything in golden eagles?

Nice score for you though! :p

Thanks for that, i'm using an old sidewinder joystick but finding the rudder (twist the stick) always seems to roll the plane slightly as well:confused:.

^^ Nice score.

Just had another game where the team just seemed destined to lose no matter what....this is fast becoming a trend. Much in the same way WoT went....
