p.s. what am I doing?
If you're brand new to War Thunder, play the tutorials - they are useful.
Then get yourself into some arcade battles with your reserve planes, and try to shoot down some enemy planes and destroy ground targets with your guns. For now, that's about all you need to know
Well put a app in for the Squadron.
Also got the A20-G thingy.
Current line up is the a20, FA2 thingy, and its prem equvalint, the Avenger and the Dauntless, and the Cat
Seem to be coming 3-6th in most games now, irrespective of loss or win, so doing okish.
Not keen on the rockets on the A20 now I ahve them, so think its 4x 500lbers will be going back on.
Half way through reaserching my first B25 as well!!!
Think I may research it, but then switch to getting some of the other tier2 planes fighters etc.
What do you do about crews etc? do you have dedicated fighter ones and bomber ones or do you just retrain them each time?
Rockets on the A20 aren't that effective for killing ground units, but why would you use them to kill ground targets when you could shoot down planes with them?
1-hit kill on anything, so pick on juicy targets like PBY's.
For crews, I try and spread things around so I've a crew with several planes and gaps in the BR between them - but as Gaijin keep changing the BR of planes, this can get a bit mixed up! For bombers, it doesn't matter a lot until you start purchasing extra gunners. For a fighter, this does nothing, but due to the cost of gunners it makes sense to have 1 slot dedicated to bombers, or more depending on how much you love teh bomb.
However, a lot of bomber gunners are garbage anyway, seeing as they only have a single 7.7mm MG, or sometimes 2 if you're incredibly lucky - so it's often not a wise expense putting extra gunners in, compared to improving your crew in other ways.
Exception to this rule is of course, the honourable H6K. With a 20mm cannon in the tail position, it's such fun to man it and destroy whichever idiot thinks it's a good idea to attack you from behind. Check the earlier pages to see what a full OcUK squad of H6K's in full troll-mode can do!
