Is there an advantage over using keyboard and mouse? I have a x52 pro and tried it briefly but was getting battered relentlessly and seem to remember people saying that using a joystick was a disadvantage?

Mouse and keyboard for arcade and historical modes are superior in my opinion. Full real is where the joystick belongs.

This game is taking over my life.... I love it, got to level 6 RAF pilot and doing pretty well, though I've noticed Russian planes seem to be well overpowered and can take a hell of a lot of damage...

Vidar83 is my ingame name if anyone wants to add me...

That's because they are made from Stalinwood, stronker than the stronkest Amerikan steel!

Gotta love those pesky russian planes.....

The fact that the developers are Russian also probably helps; if there's one thing that playing World of Tanks and War Thunder has taught me, it's that Russians are fiercely proud of their "Great Patriotic War" era equipment.

Been playing this today, what an enjoyable game.

Stuck to the British planes for now, but proper good little free game.

The ground units will be fun as well, the AAA's always chop me in half lol.

I really enjoy this game much more than the bore fest that I found World of Tanks to be. Saying that I am looking forward to ground combat. Worried how they will implement it all together though as right now while flying the ground textures and land are all poor and very flat so not sure if they will just make new maps specific to air+land and how well it will handle.

Are the bombers tail guns/turrets meant to be that powerful? lol

Seems as though as soon as you bait someone behind you they are gone, downed 3 fighters with 1 belt of ammo earlier. insane :)

It is a fiercely good game so far, I've stuck to the British planes too... Finally unlocked the Typhoon and Wellington bomber tonight and managed a successful torpedo run against a battle cruiser before getting ganked by 6 enemy fighters!!! lol Talk about overkill...

Think overall my favourite plane has to be my mark 2 hurricane, that little beast can take some damage where the spitfire, although more agile seems to be made of wet paper...

Two things that are really annoying:

1. 1 hit knocking out your pilot/crew
2. starting point is too far away from the action

other tan that it's addictive and fun lol

Loving flying low in bombers gunners are way OP.

I have to say, I've gone right to level 20 in the brits but tend to play around 10-14 generally to get a decent amount of kills, xp and credits.

However, out of curiosity I thought I'd do a little experiment to see which tier is best to play for the best amount of kills/xp/credits etc just to see if I'd got it right with 10-14 - boy how wrong I had been.

Through playing matches at each tier with fully upgraded planes, I've found that playing tiers 6-7 is the sweet spot (at least for me and the brits!). I play the Spitfire Mk II and rarely do I get killed in it, I can pull double digit kill streaks without any sweat and it's only if someone gets a lucky shot while I'm BnZ or gang up in numbers of 3-5 do I generally get killed.

I would highly recommend spending time with the little spitfire and getting used to it, with practice there is little out there that can touch you if flown correctly at this tier.
