just downloading now, I cant really get along with wop even though i think its good, since the alpha theyve changed the input lag making the keyboard unuseable

Yes. Somehow it works.
I used to spend a lot of time in flight sims a few years ago (Falcon 4, IL2, LockOn, DCS) but this is a much more enjoyable balance for say those who wan't to game for a couple hours after work or on the weekend.
There is a full flight sim mode called Full Real Battles (FRB) where a joystick is mandatory, damage models and flight models are realistic, cockpit view only, no labels etc.
But the game also offers Arcade mode and Historic Battles mode (HB).
HB is the nice middle ground basically.

Very true, but I've got a X-52 pro for DCS A-10, CloD etc and it was just too much for a game like w.o.p, in the alpha keyboard flying was superior to mouse and joy

I must fly mine sometime, not got round to training a crew for it yet.
Perhaps it would be better to cut my teeth on the rank 7 Typhoon first, although the thought of flying a rank 7 fighter with nothing but 30 cals (albeit 12 of them) isn't exactly thrilling...

Been playing this on and off for a little while now. It is really good fun and I'm finding it a lot better than WOP.
Just takes forever to get levels. I'm only level 6 with the British but it taking forever and what's with getting shot unconscious constantly now? did they change something in a patch

tried playing this again the other day and it might just be that i need to set up my joystick again but it felt horrible compared to what i remember
just didn't get on with it at all, the planes felt vague and unresponsive and the aiming with small movement then larger movements turning the plane just didn't feel nice at all.
played a few hundred games when this first came out and even bought premium plane packages and it's just not the same as when i last played it
will play about with my joystick settings to try and get what i had them at before at the weekend but if that doesn't solve it i'll be really disappointed.

^you need to play with your mouse.
If you want to play with your stick, it is not worth it unless you are playing FRB, which is full realism mode.
Secondly, you can't just plug-and-play with a joystick. You need to configure the sticks profiles to suit. Go to the official forums where people talk about all the settings changes to make in game, and on your stick software to make it feel right.
