New player here but a bit confused. My 1st plane seems to struggle with going down, its always going up. I have a joystick (logitech 3dx) so a little confused. Any tips to stop this happening?

Sounds like the joystick is not calibrated correctly for the game. I am sure if you play around in the options you can sort it out.

Try using other planes (reserve planes are available for everyone for all countries) and see if they suffer the same problem. If so, then it is the joystick, if not, then what plane is it?

Thanks :) I will give that a go

Thanks again Spangles, worked perfectly. Got 3 planes in my first real go! Brilliant game.

Do i need to buy stuff or should i learn the more about the game first?

Well the best way to play is to enjoy yourself. That really is the best. Don't bother rushing to get to higher tiers as most of us enjoy tier 2-3 the most. If you want to join the squadron then throw us an application and at some point we shall all have a game together. We are quite flexible on what tier we play to accommodate everyone.

Personally I went with the British first and only really played them for some time. Getting things like the Spitfire was awesome.

Make sure you use your crew slots wisely too! Set one to be for a bomber and make sure it has plenty of qualified gunners. My tip would be to keep a slot free, as you can buy one with the golden eagles you start with, and wait until you unlock the Wellington, then when you equip it into that slot for the first time you will have the full compliment of gunners required for it.

General summary for each nation is
Russians : Firepower
British : Agility & Speed
Germans : Firepower & Climbing
USA : Balanced
Japanes : Agility

So you could look at something that suits your play style and focus on them for a bit. The higher you get the more lions and research points you get from each plane too.

If you notice this happening again it might be your trim :)

p.s. with a joystick make the most of Realistic Battles!

Stupid question pt 2. I notice when my speed goes up >250 km/h then the plane naturally pitches up, do i need to lower the throttle to get more control of the plane?

"Thermodynamics and roll rate fixed for La-5 and La-7 series"

The LA-5 will no longer be pulling the red-bull skyracer style rolls anymore then.
Matt will be disappointed.
It will be interesting to see how the new newly FM'd Mozzy performs, but I'm sad to see no changes to the Vampire, which is currently a dog.
I'll be on tonight then :)

I had my first game in weeks yesterday and I was awful, couldn't hit anything and it seemed that I was getting one shotted all the time. Any news of a release date for the public beta of ground forces?

My favourite lazer-cannon armed plane had better not be nerfed!

Schrage Musik - comming in their arse when they least expect it.

Such a small list...
Wikipedia seems to know better:
"Typical installations

Dornier Do 217N: 4 × 20 mm MG 151/20
Focke-Wulf Fw 189: 1 × 20 mm MG151/20 (used mainly on Eastern Front)
Heinkel He 219: 2 × 30 mm MK 108
Junkers Ju 88C/G: 2 × 20 mm MG 151/20
Junkers Ju 388J: 2 × 30 mm MK 108
Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4: 2 × 20 mm MG FF/M
Messerschmitt Me 262B-2: 2 × 30 mm MK 108 (proposal only, B-2 version never produced)
Focke-Wulf Ta 154: 2 × 30 mm MK 108"

It was also installed and operational in several ME163 Komets:

"Trials with the Komet, however, showed very promising results with six operational aircraft modified. On 10 April 1945, a Halifax bomber was shot down by Fritz Kelb flying a Jägerfaust-equipped Me 163B"

I'll take 3 of those please, with Gravy :D
