Not sure I agree with that. Obviously you shouldn't buy one unless you're sure you'll play the game enough to get your monies worth but even an inexperienced player will generate income with a premium tank and it will really help you early on having a tank that can bring in the credits to afford your new tanks, crew training, modules and any equipment you want to purchase. Equipment won't make a crap tank good but it will make a good tank even better.

The best thing IMO would be to get a premium. Try and play in platoons with us to learn your tank. Learning to play a T8 tank on your own will set you up for a long road of heart ache.

Play with us, listen to what people say to and don't take offence if we tell you your doing something wrong. I still get told, everyone does, your always learning. Trinidad is the perfect example. He did actually wait until he bought a T8, he worked his way slowly up, and he is 100% better than he used to be, but he does toon up with us every day, he plays he companies and does well.

We have TS, come join us, you will find it hard to progress fast on your own.

I played a little over 2k games before I bought my premium tank (T34), but I still don't know what I'm doing so I'm probably not the best example :D

How accurate is the efficiency rating? I've played 3.3k games now and I don't really feel I'm been playing better recently but my efficiency rating has slowly improved. (Before anyone gets excited it is only at 920, I realise I'm fail).

The thing is it has gone up from about 860 in the last 3 months without me playing any better. But obviously as I'm unlocking tanks my average tier is also increasing. I would have thought that efficiency would take all that into account?

How is efficency even calculated? Is it shots fired/damage dealt or is it shots fired/shots hit target?
Because I guess they both depend on either the crew or the tanks you are coming up against.

uh oh. Efficiency uses DPB, spots, kills (?), and unfairly rewards cap points and defense points very highly.

I wouldn't buy a tier 8 premium. If you have less than 1k efficiency and 50% win rate I would try and change your outlook on the game.

EDIT: that sounds rude. grab someone in platoon or training and get some ideas.

Back to the age old Efficiency discussion (age old for those of us who have played a while!)

Generally speaking the efficiency of a player is an "indication" of how good they are. It takes into account cap points, damage done, defense, spotting etc and comes up with a figure based on those areas. 99% of the time if you see a red or orange (low stat player) you can almost be certain they will either drive headlong into the enemy line and die early or camp back and not help at all, hence they are useless and a waste of a player slot!

Of course this is a sweeping generalisation as some people can be the exception to this but on the whole, I don't trust anyone with less than 1000 efficiency to be able to play the game well enough to make a differnce, less than 1200 and its hit and miss (litterally) 1200+ and I know I can trust them to make reasonable decisions, look at the map and help out when in trouble etc. If you keep plugging away, understand the mahecnics of the game and aim to improving your game you'll get beyond 1200 eff easily. If you don't bother to learn it, help your fellow tanker and basically meander around the map, grunting and hitting the left mouse button with your forehead when you spot a "bad guy" you'll fall victim to my abuse during the game should our paths cross. :)

You'll learn to hate noob tankers! :D

I'm 971 efficiency, 49% yellow and no matter what I do I cant seem to shift this any higher.

Its probably because I have lost nearly as many matches as won by being quite often on the side of the orange and yellow devils.

How long have you been playing?

What is your play style? Are you always on the front line fighting it out with the tanks or a defensive player, sat back - poking in and out of rocks/boooshes sniping when you think they aren't looking?

Are you the one that fights your way through to cap or goes back to defend your own cap or sits back and hopes nobody scratches your new paint job?

Do you go help tanks when they are in trouble or watch as your highest TD gets out manouvered by a t-50-2 and shot in the back until hes dead - then go in to try and kill it off? Do you take shots for low hp tanks, or watch as they get mullered? Are you mostly an arty player, cus it beats having to do any thinking on the battle field?

All important questions - be truthfull in your responses and we'll help you improve your playing style and thus improve your stats as a by-product.

...and as an aside. I'm no gods gift to WoT there are plenty of people out there and on here that know different/better things to me and their opinion is just as important - but I do know what works and what doesn't work for me, what tactics work best on certain maps, how to read the enemies potential moves - it all comes down to experience in playing. If you listen to what people suggest in here and take them into the game, you'll get better, simples! :)

Do you go help tanks when they are in trouble or

all the above

about six months.

also support other tanks, provide covering fire, quite good at arty, eg moving targets, sometimes wait to see how the battle pans out then plug the weakest bit or support other tanks. Know quite a few good routes through some of the maps including on a couple how to sneak to the enemy cap without being seen.

So I consider myself a generally average to good player quite often I am one of the few left.

I'm pretty convinced my efficiency rating is down to the idiots that play plus dont forget I have only played mainly t6 and below. Probably about 10 t7 matches and nothing above.

So is this clan just a tag? Or do you guys actually group up and do Clan Wars and Platoons or?

We have 2/3 platoons running every night and probably do t6 or t8 companies for a couple of hours on average every other night when enough are on. We have a team speak server for chatting whilst in toon/company or just general chat.

How many games have you played, if its above around 6k with that efficiency it's all down to you. Otherwise it should go up as you play more games.

Also it is important you do the right thing dependant on your class. For example going into town and leaving the hill open as a medium is usually a really stupid thing to do, or sitting back and sniping with the biggest heavy in the game leaving smaller heavies to try and cover the town. There are exceptions to this but those are the general rules.

tbh I take efficiency and win/loss ratio with a pinch of salt.

People that play in platoons all the time will likely have a much better rating.. reducing the number of idiots in your team. Also efficiency is very biased to cap/def points.

Also depends if your always in a tank with crap equipment, poor upgrades and rubbish crew... then there is use of gold ammo, running around in pimped out tanks etc...

Play, enjoy, and try to do well. If your happy with your performance in game no matter whether you win or lose, then thats all that matters.

I take all the stats with a pinch of salt as well.... I have to, mine are crap! :D

I'm looking forward to having a game or two tonight, if I can stay awake...

The way I see efficiency, its only the extremes that matter. Really low values tend to mean the player really is terrible at the game and you should be very afraid when they're on your team. Really high values tend to mean they platoon/company a lot and/or use premium items a lot and so it doesn't matter how skilled you are because gold ammo penetrates almost anything on newer tanks with pay2win 400mm+ penetration.

Have to agree with your statement of my angry reply was after a fustraiting start after people deliberately blocking, warning them of a batchat threat then getting artied behind cover and flanked before the match starts. Because autoloaders and arty are my pet peeves atm. Apologies for my knee jerk reaction.

However your replies and also the fact i've encountered 7-8 of you guys in a period of a month or two, which one person was spouting the N word at a load of people which I was horrified and others being exceptionally rude and just baiting random people in general.

Although I may have had a very angry reaction but didn't call a name or a specific person just exclaimed at arty/batchats and you guys instantly start being very rude trying to troll me which in your own right is as bad as what I was saying. Which again I do apologies for, I wasn't much of a gentleman but a very stressed angry man.

However as I said you two aren't the first, and the fact I felt soured by my encounters with your other members didn't make me want to tolerate two people baiting me, especially when the encounter before that was racism.

All in all, poor attitude from my side, followed by your baiting meant we looked like animals, which neither of us looked good. So a big apology for that match. Which I hope next time I see you we can have a good match.

See you around.

Who was using the N word? Whoever it was needs their bottom spanked. Send me a PM if you don't wanna post it here.

Sure we sometimes rage and call people noobs on the chat, but if an individual is taking it too far the rest of us don't want to be painted with his racist brush.
