I presumed he meant "noob" by N word, even I am guilty of that sometimes. If it is indeed the racist N word then that is indeed unacceptable.

Fred, I'm sorry but a low par winrate is mostly down to that individual being a bad player rather than team. You should be at 50% at least before you can start blaming the teams!

What is the IS-8 like?
As i am only 20k xp away from unlocking it, and i might just go that way first before i buy even more tier 8s.
And is the IS-7 a decent tier X tank? as i dont want to go down the wrong tree now, its getting expensive.

Is-8 is a nice tank. Pretty much a jack-of-all-trades. The gun is really nice, armour is dodgy. It relies more on angles than thick slabs of steel, so sometimes it bounces even the biggest guns, but sometimes you'll be penetrated by low tiers or scouts. It moves really nicely, and has a small frontal profile, although it can be a bit vunerable to arty.

If you get on well with the is-3 you should be alright in it's bigger brothers.

IS8 is good, but don't expect it to play exactly like the IS3 either. The gun is better and the tank is faster but it doesn't bounce as much, even against lower tiers. However once you get used to these differences you will learn to love it. IS7 is well worth going for.

OK then Fred. What is your win rate? And how exactly do you think your teams are always letting you down? What, in your opinion are they doing wrong?

I'm not referring to me, I'm referring to putting too much faith into win/loss ratios and saying people with a lower win ratios are instantly bad players.

For reference my win rate is 50.7% atm.

When you take into account all the other things that affect your game, MM, Crews, tank type, tank tier, upgrades, equipment, ammo you use, platooning, time you play, blind luck... I agree more with evilsod's view on extremes.

It was the racist N word. It was about a month and a little bit ago this occurred so I can't honestly remember who it was, so I can't chase it.

Both the IS-8 and IS-7 are pretty nice tanks. Their hulls can be a little flimsy, especially if caught in the open. However the IS-7 is one of the premier clan wars tanks, if you can get it into the right position they are really hard to tank to take down. If you've made it this far up the IS line, if you're enjoyed it so far, you wont be let down by the final two.
 
My win ratio/efficiency went down when I started playing companies/platoons :D In fairness this was also at the same time they introduced gold ammo for all... (I don't use gold as a rule, but I might change that). My only T8 is the Tiger II as well, which suffers a tad.

Well the average is around 49% so you're obviously doing something right.

IMO the main difference between the guys with really high efficiency and average, is consistency. Apart from the very worst players everyone has great games where they get 5,6, or 10 kills. Everyone also has rubbish games where they're the first tank to die. IMO a lot of good players know when they're on a team that's going to lose, and play accordingly to maximize their XP and credits despite the loss.

Win ratio can be inflated by platooning with other above average players, and efficiency can be "faked" by bashing noobs in lower tiers...... so when you see a guy with 2000 efficency in an IS7 you don't know whether he earned it in that tank, or whether he's just really good in a loltracktor.

Well if you ever see them doing it again take some screens or save the replay and report it to one of us immediately. A bit of name-calling is par for the course with online gaming, but we don't want to bring OCUK into disrepute and anyone caught doing so will certainly be dealt with.
 
Although to be fair homophobic language is on a par with racist language. They both have no place.

However, we know that Blitzkrieg used derogatory homphobic language(replay), all we have on the other hand is his word that 'a month and a little bit ago' and he can't remember who it was. This is why I have replay record turned on so that anything like this can be sent off to wargaming support for their attention

Also it is important you do the right thing dependant on your class. For example going into town and leaving the hill open as a medium is usually a really stupid thing to do, or sitting back and sniping with the biggest heavy in the game leaving smaller heavies to try and cover the town. There are exceptions to this but those are the general rules.

I tend to agree with link. Efficiency is about the player not the team. You can still have high efficiency and a average win rate. I get loads of games where I do well, high damage, large number of kills - and still lose. That does not affect my efficiency only my win rate. Does that mean I'm a bad player because my win rate is average? Win rate is about how you and your team does - and in most cases, rather badly - at least I seem to get put on the worst teams - though I will quantify that with the fact I pretty much exclusively play higher tier tanks (8-10)
