Ok so I have designed something - now for the big time

Why does the iphone get the app and no android, ive never understood this marketing stuff for apps, android has a big enough market share dosn't it:confused:

Um, if you look at the 2 phones I posted, one is an iPhone the other a GalaxyS.

It does indeed support Android, infact I am an Android user, so that came 1st :-)

Excellent Pinter. I bet you are well chuffed to say the least. I wanted one of these when I was a child but they were very expensive back then.

I shall look forward to seeing it in the shops. No App for Blackberry users then? Suppose we are never catered for :(

Also, any idea on rrp yet?

There maybe a blackberry app, I just don't develop for the platform.

The prototype can be controlled via PC, iPhone, ipad and Android - that's as far as my skills go.

Hopefully as it will be a fairly open product, you can easily create your own apps and controllers for it.

Can't say about an RRP yet - but it will be competitive and affordable!

The Galaxy image mock-up says 'Joysitck'.

I'm available for further quality control for a small percentage. :D

Yeah I know, that is an old image of the 1st version of the app.

I can't spell for love nor money really :-)

It has all been fixed and sorted.

Guess what I just seen in an Argos advert on TV!!! :D

Major congrats Pinter.

No so fast :-)

The one you see on TV is the re-issue - nowt to do with that.

The one I have done is the new 2012 one - vastly different but has the same DNA.

Stay tuned for updates when I can release them.

Also I may have a large amount of cool stuff on the shelves next year - exciting times!

Howdy,

Ok I can now start showing you what it is all about. Here is a mock ad I have done (it was rushed for presentations).

Basically it shows a wee bit about the new Bigtrak XTR. That is the prototype I made out of styrene sheet :-)

There will be more going up on the web about it soon.

I think to be fair it's aimed at the older market (30s to 40s) who remember the original toy and are looking for a bit of nostalgia.

The re-release was aimed at the nostalgia market, this is technically for the toy market. Although as it is fairly hackable it will appeal to the older market too.

Bit outdated isn't it? I remember in the early 90's having remote controlled robots with missiles and vehicles that can follow pre-programmed commands. This thread could rate as the biggest disappointment of the year. Has anything actually been "invented" here?

BigtrakXTR is one of many possible products I have either designed or invented for next year, so yeah things have technically been invented. I am updating this thread as they become reality.

The thread started for something I did invent - went nowhere as yet. BigtrakXTR came along later which I designed - not invented.

Plenty of new "inventions" to come.

As far as I understand he cannot reveal the product that originally got this thread started. If it had been given the go ahead of course he could have told everyone what it was. Not that difficult to understand and not his fault everyone has taken such an interest in it.

Keeping his cards close ro his chest I think :)

^ Exactly.

What happened with this thread originally was that I was presenting something I made to major toy companies - thought it would make an interesting thread.

That has not really gone anywhere in terms of licence or production, and while all this was happening, I designed a new Bigtrak under licence. So the thread has taken a different path to the original.

As for other stuff I have done that is all under wraps for obvious reasons. I will update this thread as they are released.

Maybe just Maybe some of the products will appeal to you guys here, and it would be cool to know how you like them.

Not expecting everyone to love all of them - that is an impossible task for a designer.

This thread is incredibly hostile. At least the dude is trying to make something of himself. Most of you just live through your monotonous lives, waiting for the weekend to come upon you so you can play games and watch tv.

Ta :-)

As many others in the UK I got made redundant after 10 years. Gambled in this new incredibly hard industry and hoping it will now pay off.

Has been a year of £0 income and long long days - no holidays etc...

Things are turning round now - not out of the woods just yet.
