Olympic Opening Ceremony

The Bond bit was great, but it ended a bit randomly with the Queen appearing from somewhere else entirely and Craig disappearing.

Yeah very impressed, The Industrial Revoultion part I thought was especially epic, not too sure about Dizzy Rascal though, should've had Black Sabbath!:D

I loved it. The coverage I thought wasn't great, sound balance was off and too often they focused in on the detail rather than giving us the overall impression but the whole thing was very British, and delivered with great acumen and poise. Having multiple young athletes light the flame was a moment of genius.

Silly little things stood out: the flying pig, the EastEnders moment in the initial stand-in, the "is that really the Queen? It is, isn't?" Bond bit. Fantastic.

I thought the best we could achieve would be not embarrassing ourselves infront of the world but it surpassed my expectations and I was very impressed by it all. I loved the forging of the rings I thought that was amazing and I was pleased that they included some comedy into it as it's something we are known for worldwide, plus we never take anything seriously so why should this be any different :p

I enjoyed it more then china's opening as it may not of been as flash and epic but that's not British.

Can't believe everyone on the internet saying it was good. I thought it was terrible ceremony apart from the bond bit with the queen. I was in a bar watching and i'd say about 2/3rds of everyone thought it was rubbish as well.

I honestly dont see how people can think that. From what Ive watched it was a brilliant ceremony. The costumes and performances were awesome.

Did you actually expect them to parachute into the stadium? :D :P

Hell yeah!

No, I would've preferred to see costumed look-a-likes parachute into the stadium, landing behind a screen (or whatever) and then the real DC and ER walk out. How awesomeness would that have been?!

With all the wires overhead there is no chance they would risk that unfortunately :(

Careful, dont take a decent camera, wouldnt want you to pay a lot of money for a ticket then actually be able to look back with decent photos you took years later.....

That is my only thing that has annoyed me...."dont take a decent camera" pffft

I'm intrigued, what do you class as a good camera? The rules state anything up to 30cm which covers you for basically anything up to a 300 f/2.8 lens!

On a more questioning note, anyone that went to the opening ceremony, did you take an SLR? If so what lenses were allowed in...
