OnLive now FREE and WORKS in the UK!

Meh brother is on 8mb sky, got a free MicroConsole from pre-ordering Arkham City so tried it at his house.

Playing DIRT3 just fine! Quality wasn't exactly high-end PC quality but better than his PS3.

I just tried this with the dirt 3 trial.

It's impossible to play with a keyboard, (doubt it's onlive)

Works really well otherwise, smooth and no freezing or noticeable lag.

Gave some trials a go, wasn't greatly impressed. For me the hype of this service was being able to play any game, at highest settings, but as far as I can tell they're pretty low settings - is this the same with full games? From what I've seen I can play better looking games on my average 260 setup, without the latency. Any latency is also quite annoying playing FPS mainly I found, as the reactions just don't feel right, and I'd hate to think I was compensating for lag as I got used to it.

Overall I guess it's great for handhelds/basic laptops while on the go, and for quickly playing demos of games you're thinking of buying.

Yes, I thought the games were at max settings but it seems not. It will be interesting to see if Batman: Arkham City has the PhysX effects all going but I highly doubt it. TBH, I don't know how you'd check.

the physx is is fancy ambient effects, stuff like paper on the floor, smoke that gets pushed around.

doubt highly they will have physx, as even on a powerful dedicated card it really hurts framerate quite a lot.

Yes.

Where is my 2560x1600 res with 8xAA 16XAF gaming.

Where is my 4960x1600 gaming.

Why cant i use all my range of gaming Peripherals.

Giving up a lot of preference/choice and quality.

But for people who never had or care and are used to low quality gaming then yeah are you really going to argue.

I agree, I want all those things too. However the technology could mature to cater to our demographic. I imagine some platform that still allows the actual game's computations to be carried out client-side but the data driving those computations get downloaded on-demand. The benefits of cloud gaming (namely no cheating) with the benefits of preference and quality. Who knows? :)

Thats kind of like expecting steam to have been fully realised from Day 1. Today Onlive is good for a laptop with a rubbish graphics card. The input lag is minimal and when compared to the ability to play deus ex or space marine instead of Soitaire, its fantastic. Any bigger and youre looking at console style gameplay on your TV.

In five years time we may be looking at smooth PC play, who knows.

Wake me up when its here :)

Thinking about trying onlive when I get my 100mbs virgin media broadband connection...oh in a couple of months time...

That might be able to cope...but then again, if the screen res is crap, not really worth it...

Tried connecting tonight to see some Assassin's Creed: Revelations gameplay but I'm getting an error message saying the service is not supported in my region. Anyone else having trouble?
