ONM - MarioKart Wii Review

Damn, I was fearing that would be the case. Being punished for having the lead in a race from the beginning. You may as well slow down to remain in 2nd or 3rd close behind to take the win at the end while they are being bashed.

I think after the N64 version it became too much about powerful items. It wouldn't be so bad if there was only a small chance of getting something big but if you're behind, on every game since that one you seem to get all the help possible.

DS version got it right. This version has very little scope for tactics with weapons.
 
The other thing that irks me a bit is playing DS courses on the Wii - it's kinda disorienting, especially given that you can't drive in the same way. Desert Hills is the most obvious example I think; the slalom/chicane at the end is easy on the DS and you can turbo on every bend, but it's not nearly as easy to deal with on the Wii.

Its a predominantly multiplayer game so that would mean making it easier for noobs, personally, well so fa i find it not too bad i still come 1st, 2nd, just takes a bit more skill :)
 
My online score is 469 - 45 with a 7679 ranking so it's not like I lose much. Half of those losses were when I was just starting out so got stomped by those who knew the karts, tracks and items. It's far more luck based than the DS version.
 
Steering rocks imho! much more accurate, justs needs more skill than using a left right system!
 
Is there anyway to do non-team play in multiplayer battle mode... I just want 4 player free for all like in MK64. Enjoying the racing aspect of the game but battle mode is a real let down for me because of this :(
 
So is this game a must have guys? i'm going to trade in No more heroes for this (as ive compleated it)
