Opinions on this first gaming PC build

I think the recommendation is to get the 2700, not the 2700X. They have the same number of cores, but the X version has higher base clock and boost speeds.

I don't know what's wrong with the Palit 1070 Ti as I've only read good reviews. Ortibtalwalsh seems to know his hardware, though, so he may have picked up some problems with it I've not seen.

Better than the 2700 as well? I found mixed results on this, but I've not looked into streaming specifically in any detail, just general CPU reviews...

For the person viewing the live stream it's higher frame rate, person playing not so

for streaming:
2700/x > 8700/k > 2600/x

no doubt about it, if @Beth is serious about streaming, then either a 2 computer setup, or an AMD 2700/x build (if limited to only 1 computer)
8700 is somewhat a halfway house.

i'd get the KFA2 rather than the palit, although both only have 2 year warranty. KFA2 RMA depot is in wales, whereas palit's in taiwan (IIRC)

^^^^ still a good half way house the @tamzzy , happily use set up you've listed . Streamers that are in the upper crust still choose their frame rates over reviewers , as viewers what to see them at their best etc .

Good the to buy a core finally , though also a pain ... Damn choices :D

Thanks, will the 2400MHz effect the performance? I feel like once I get the keyboard and mouse this is going to be above my budget.

@Beth intel is less ram sensitive than amd with respect to ram performance, so looking at ~1% at most, if you go by average framerates
(there *may* be slightly more stuttering as slower ram affects the absolute minimums and 0.1% lows, rather than the average framerates)
also, b360m chipset only supports a max of 2666mhz ram, so the jump in £££ from 2400mhz ram to anything higher isn't worth it, as you're capped to 2666mhz anyway.

I feel like once I get the keyboard and mouse this is going to be above my budget.
what *is* your budget, and what do you actually need?

Ok, thanks @tamzzy . The most I want to spend is £1400, but ideally £1300. I need the build, monitor, keyboard and mouse (basically the whole set up). I know it's quite a tight budget, I just need something that handles streaming and recording well. I'm only really starting out but want decent performance.

X370 k7 Vs 360 Pro 4 audio

Dual (front and back headphone ports) ALC 1220 audio chip Vs single ALC 892

120dB front panel & 120db rear panel Vs 110dB rear panel

Dual headphone Amp Vs none

Sound Blaster X-Fi software Vs asrock own

6 audio caps (Japanese Nichicon)
Vs 4 (ELNA Audio)

DAC usb (if using USB headset) Vs standard USB

Difference between boards are night and day, but so is the price when .Bought by themselves .
Copper and amount of PCB layers etc - but not exactly needed for streaming .
Check your headset , if it's a good quality own , then you'll need something to deal with it . If you plan on talking during streams etc

Thanks @tamzzy. Regarding @orbitalwalsh's AMD 2700X bundle I've added it up with extras and it's going to be basically £1500, whereas the i7 build is £1450, which is still over my budget unfortunately. Would you buy windows for cheap on eBay or not risk it and pay the full amount because then I could afford the i7 build?

I think this is the best I can get so far in my budget with a second monitor:
CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600X 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: Gigabyte - X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: ADATA - XPG Z1 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3000 Memory
Storage: Crucial - MX500 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: KFA2 - GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB EX Video Card
Case: Phanteks - Enthoo Pro M ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair - TXM Gold 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit
Case Fan: BitFenix - Spectre 43.5 CFM 120mm Fan
Case Fan: BitFenix - Spectre 43.5 CFM 120mm Fan
Monitor: Dell - E1914H 18.5" 1366x768 Monitor
Monitor: AOC - G2460FQ 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor
Total: £1396.44

I know I've used the ADATA memory although I'd get more support on here for the Team memory, I'd feel more confident getting something from the QVL. Do you have any opinions on this build?

looks solid, though you don't need 650w PSU, not sure the cost of it but 550w Formula should do and saves cash if Current PSU is over £70 ?
Cheaper cases can be had like P300 which cuts down £20
Aorus B450 launches **/07 ( end of month) and would shave off another £30 . same 8+3 set up as Ultra

matx has same set up to, but smaller :)

doing the above, think you'll be able to hit ryzen 2700 , but still requires waiting 2 weeks

also take it you'll be using Windows 10 via boot stick for free and buying CD key for £20 odd ??

Thanks, I'll have a look at the cost of those. Do you think the build will be able to handle streaming/recording well or not?

yeah, as always in life , more threads you have the better for streaming live etc etc etc . but even 2600 should do nicely ! most people still on 4 core 8 thread intels , which has a masisve disadvantage to ryzen 1700/x/1800 when they came out :)

I've switched to 550W, thanks for that suggestion. Would you say there's much difference between the P300 and P400 case?
I could save extra money by going for a MSI motherboard but I believe someone said before that Gigabyte is better?
Also are you sure the KFA2 is going to be ok even though its a cheaper 1070ti?

8700 version for not much more and also a 1080p second screen
(as again, some parts out of stock at ocuk)
(also can get the 8700 somewhere else as ocuk's prices are £10 too expensive)

tbh, for comparable prices, i'd get the 8700 build rather than the 2600/x build
*UNLESS*, you're planning to upgrade to an octa-core ryzen in the near future, in which case, the ryzen build offers better upgradeability

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,436.69 (includes shipping: £15.90)

Gigabyte has far better support with reps on here and better communication between them and OCUK staff by some of the threads. can also RMA directly to them - no real need if you havent bought from OCUK.

as tam pointed out, 8700 would be the better streamer - board is on the cheaper end and audio is lower, just like less cores audio becomes weaker but not to much of a problem . Is if you've got a damn expensive headset that needs driving .

guy for 8700 or 2700

dont need to pay £100 plus for windows ... sure others will fill the grey area in

coffeelake chipset like b360/h370/h310/h310c can handle 8 core ( guessing z370 will aswell but guessing bios patches will be different as its based on Kaby lake chipset Z270)

Ok, thanks. Cheapest I can get Windows for is £80 on ******. I've already got a mic that I'm going to use. Unfortunately my headset broke and if I'm building this I can't afford a new one so might sound stupid but I'm thinking of just using my beats headphones?
