Opteron 165 overclocks

got mine prime stable on both cores @ 2.7ghz, chip does 2.8 in windows but fails prime on core 0 after a few secs, core 1 carrys on tho, damn weaker cores :)

Just testing out my first of my two 0608 MPMW's .

2.8Ghz @ 1.312v duel prime stable for 12hours, so far so good :)

It failed at 2817 @ stock after 3 hours. This thing is real hot compared to my  CCBBE. I think I need to upgrade my swiftech water kit ...

Im on 2.5Ghz on stock volts with standard cooler. Temps are getting hot when folding on both cores in this warmer weather but that can be expected.

Got an Opty 165 yesterday. CCB1E 0609 FPBW. Running 2.7GHz @ 1.35v. About to start some prime testing.

Whoa! Nice chip there mate! I need 1.45 to run stable at 2.7. I am very happy with that tho :)

Got one of those on it's way over the pond at the moment.
Fingers crossed that it clocks as well. That stepping is getting good reports all round. :D

I might have to do the same. One core failed prime after 4 hours but the other core is still going after 15+ hours. Much better clocker than my Opty 144 which needed 1.55v for 2.7Ghz.

Hoping to get close to 2.9Ghz.

Well I have my Opteron and a Asus A8NE so all I need to do now is work out how to overclock it as I have no idea which settings to change.

read the o/c'ing thread from the overclocking section, as you have a dfi mobo also check out dfi street for any help and advice...

Hi mate, I have the same motherboard.

Settings in bios:
Floppy support Enable (This is a must, disabling floppy in bios makes the board impossible to overclock, dont know why)
Start with HTT/FSB 290.
Lock PCI to 33.3 and the other set at 100mhz
Set HyperTransport to x3
Set ram FSB to 266
Set Commandrate to 1T (memory section)

Try this for a start. You may need to up CPU voltage to get 2.6ghz

I have a 165 (CCB1E 0609FPBW) on the way going in an ASRock Dual (stop gap MB). Will let you know how I get on too.

So, with these CPUs, are they exactly as fast a FX60 when at 2.6GHz?

apparently you **** avoid that stepping if you want a chance of hitting 2.8ghz on air with a dfi mobo on air...
Got that very stepping and it does 2.6 without much fuss I havent had it stable at 2.8 yet though :(

Ok I have managed to overclock to 2748Mhz using these settings.

HTT 275 I cannot go any higher without crashing at bios
PCI Lock 33.3 @100Mhz
Hypertransport x3
Ram FSB 266Mhz
1T Commandrate
1.465volts cpu

What can I do now to get a higher overclock?

Mate that is not a bad overclock at all! Anything over 2.6ghz with the 165 must be considered a good chip in my book.

Try 1.5vcore to see if you can hit 2.8ghz. After this it is time to test for stability. I personally settled for a stable clock at 2.64ghz.

Im using bios 1011. Will see if 1013 is worth getting.

And no DO NOT run at 2T commandrate. Always use 1T with 64bit Athlons.
2T seriously cripples performance.
