Orange M600

The story continues....

Going through the upgrade procedure on the website gave no mention (and I read all the way through the T&C) that I would lose my inclusive texts and it defaulted me to a 12 month contract.

So I ordered it ;)

That's unlikely to work, as if you're on the old style direct plan or a retention deal previously, the 500 texts wasn't part of the plan, but a renewable bundle valid for 18 months.

Hence there is no requirement to state that you would lose it, it simply wouldn't be renewed.

That's what happened to me. I started on a new YP120 with 250 texts 19 months ago. The texts disappeared last month, but I hardly used text anyway so it didn't bother me.

Whats the m600 like for texting, does it get easy after a while?? Obviously I aint got the texting habits of a teenage girl but this is the main thing putting me off.

I find it easy enough. It takes a little getting used to at first, but you soon find using the stylus and keypad quick and easy. I don't really do a great deal of texting though.
You can get these full screen keyboard progs for PPC's, which should make it easy to use your fingers for such tasks.

Hmmm, I might have to phone up orange and make sure my inclusive minutes stay as they are then after my contract is renewed. I ordered the phone off the internet today, so should be getting it any time soon!

Dolph, I was talking to a lady at Orange yesterday and she said that I could add on a GPRS bundle of 4mb for £4 a month, but if I used 4mb a month without the package I would pay only £1. However if I used 1mb I'd pay £4, is this correct, seems odd to me.

I think what she was trying to say is that if you got the 4MB for £4 then an extra MB would cost only £1 after the 4MB, but if you had no bundle then it would cost you £4 per MB.

I have just ordered one... :D Should get it tomorrow... £99 inc postage etc renew contract for 12 months.

Cant wait...

What is your monthly spend, what sort of allowance are you getting this time round?

Monthly spend between £35 and £45 (Select500, 60texts, orange care)

Just noticed that it doesnt have the slide out keyboard like the mini xda thingy. :( Guess i should have looked into it a bit more. At least i have 7 days to see if i like it. But i dont think i can go without some sort of keypad. Pity... :(

Does the C600 come with Wifi too?

Cheers

Its the XDA mini S that has the keys, and no the C600 has had the wifi taken out  ! I like it without the keys maybe you will be ok with it.

Well i have just got mine this morning. All i can say is... WOW!!! its pretty stunning. It is a pda with phone functions. Making a phone call couldnt be easier. Just press the green phone button and up pops a keypad and all your contacts. The screen is incredible quality, its so clear and crisp. Texts will take a little getting used to but it may save me sending so many...

Cant wait to get TomTom and Skyforce on it... :D

Cool... Now i have mine does anyone have any reccomendations on software/apps/games for it?

Is there a version of mame for it?

Nice golf game would be cool too... :D

It gets more complicated. As said above I ordered mine on Tuesday expecting 3-4 day delivery time but a friend mentioned that they're normally next day. So yesterday I called and spoke to someone who assured me it would be with me today. At the time I didn't think he sounded very confident about this on the phone.

Late morning today I gave them a call and spoke to someone who actually seemed interested in helping me. He spent some time trying to locate my order and was unable to, even when I gave him the order number. He asked me to check my card and see if the money has been taken out but it hasn't. The order that I placed on Tuesday has been lost somehow which shows that the person I spoke to yesterday lied to me. There is no way he could have found that I was due to get a delivery today because there's no active order on my account.

The man I spoke to today was very helpful. We went through all the details of my order, he checked my contract and checked stock but the M600 is now out of stock *sigh*

To me, one of the signs of good customer service is when someone promises to call you back and then actually does it. This guy did it twice and I called him once and was able to get him on the extension number he quoted me.

Anyway, bottom line is that he has said he'll keep an eye on stock of the M600 and will call me when they come back in. Call me naïve but I reckon he will do this. He's also promised me that I'll stay on a 12 month contract (as per the email I received confirming the order) and I asked him to check about my minute/text combo and he assured me that I'd keep that as well.

So I don't have an M600 yet, but I should do soon. I also should be on the contract that I want and with the package I want.

Trouble is that I want it NOW!

I'm awaiting my phone too. Unfortunately I have to send it back again as I need to change my contract slightly and they can't do that as I ordered it from the web. So I have to start again

Well I had my M600 for a week and just now went and returned it.

I am a user of the SPV M1000 so I know what I want from my PDA. But unfortunately the M600 just did not cut it.

1) Massive slow downs when browsing - this may be because I had no memory card in there (was on order) but even then slow downs were frequent!

2) Wifi - the integration using WM5 is pants. It doesn't renew the IP when moving from one network to another. The actual signal and speed of wifi was pretty good though.

3) Unable to load macromedia flash websites on IE. IE sucks regardless of the platform. I must say I didnt try Opera.

4) Really poor quality sound when receiving and dialing out voice calls.

Waiting for the N80 now on O2.
