Orange M600

I have to agree with Type R, mine is going back too. After playing with it for a few days i came to the same conclusions as he did. On top of that i found the no keypad a real pain. For Instance i set up a passwork on startup and resume but every time you want to use the pda or phone you have to get out the stylus etc. I quite like the interface though. Some, of the features were great and a big improvement over the nokia. So i will probably go for a C600 and save myself £99.

really? They are supposed to be texting me when they are back in stock, there are 3 of us at my work all waiting for them. Maybe they have a return at the time you called.

EDIT - Just called them again & they said none expected till end of June

It was in stock over the internet, but apparently not over the phone... I need to change my tariff, grrr. I spoke to the most irritatingly stupid woman on the phone too, is it just me who thinks retentions should just be renamed the upgrade department?

It was brand new, everything sealed etc. The bloke on the phone did say they only had a few in and couldn't gurantee they would be available the next day. But I thought he was just saying this to retain my custom. I upgraded and got the handset for free, so I took it.

I'm quite impressed with it.

I don't know why it takes Orange so long to make these devices available in Britain. They have been on sale in the Far East since Xmas and I picked up my one in January in Hong Kong.
With the kind of buying power Orange (France Telecom) have, you would think they could get there hands on them in large numbers, slightly quicker than 6 months after the device is released.

Because they have to be tested to meet EU radiation regulations.
Orange need to test it with their software and on their network.
With new devices initial production quantities are low. If Orange announced availability without actually having enough stock or a guaranteed supply they would have a lot of unhappy customers. Nobody wants to order a new phone and then have to wait months before it arrives.

Well, they don't seem to exactly have sorted stock levels out, as everyone is complaining they can't get them.

Not everyone. A quick count shows 3 (plus paul8811's workmates) are waiting, and about 3 who have received (including those who have returned them as unsuitable). Given that on the internet people are more likely to speak up to complain than praise, I think Orange are doing reasonably well and it's not just Orange who are having supply difficulties.
