**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Ermm no? If you go 4queen you delay gases till about 36-40 supply and if you got 6queen you delay till about 50supply. Sure you might get a early bane attack if they are not playing economic but same can be said for 15hatch that you can do a early bane attack or roach attack if you don't want to take a third. Generally a early roach attack will do more bad than good, unless the terran is a retard you should be able to damage.

Go watch any pro ZvT from recent tournaments. They mostly all involve some kind of early baneling attack with either roaches or lings and this is exactly what happens on ladder. Theres no way to counter it except put yourself behind and go fast siege tanks or do a crazy sim city which hinders you aswell.

Plus you can easily go 4/6queen and still take a gas and stay on it with 1/2 workers after speed.

I swear people here don't actually watch sc2 at all

XD A job isn't an excuse if you want to argue the ins and outs.

Even macro players do it because the way things are ATM it doesn't hinder the economy, they just make 15 workers during the attack while taking away your ability to counter. I think everyone but Leenock yesterday has been using it. Poor Leenock didn't get the memo ..

Don't spend too long on the practice matches, they're not a v good representation of what you're likely to find on the ladder in bronze/silver. Do like 10 then just jump in - only way to learn!

Starcraft 2 is in no way dead at all. It's growing all the time and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Doesn't matter whether HotS will change the game completely or not. The skills you need to succeed can be learned from WoL.

what tripe. The esports crowd may tell you its growing but its not , its seriously declined you only have to look at the online stats (which are printed in massive letters each time you login) to know that a massive majority of the community just dont play anymore.

Games like LoL, DOTA2 have taken massive chunks out of SC and until HOTS comes out the community is going to get less and less.

I still play - occasionally but to me the games as dull as dishwater and I have zero love for it anymore. Course you can still get games but what was said above is true, games are taking substantially longer to find. its all part and parcel of it being online of course but to say its growing when all the facts prove otherwise is just beyond idiotic.

No idea what level you're playing at but I've never taken longer than 10seconds to find a game.

LoL and DotA2 are a different genre of game so that's completely negligible and you can't prove that.

Plus there are always going to be those people who buy the game, realize they can't get out of the lower leagues and then quit. That's going to always be the majority of the players, only 2% of players are in Masters after all.

Shame there aren't more zerg players on this forum to chat with :/ Here's the most useful video for zerg if you want to learn, since they are quite 'op' at the moment. When to make drones.

I expected 'practice matches' to be with noobs like me but thats not the case, most of the time the guys playing are really good.

Longest I waited was 1min20secs otherwise seems to be quite active.

I think i'll stick with practice for a while,dont want 100% loss record :s

But i'm glad i bought it even at a crazy price :)

Good tip is to watch the youtube channels of guys like Day9 and Huskystarcraft a lot. Day9 is the best for learning, however his videos are often too long, like 1+hours, while husky's videos are quite short and I get through watching them quite quickly.

As I recall, practice matches are at a slower game speed than normal ladder. They also have destructible rocks holding you in your base which aren't in ladder games, the aim being to prevent rushes. You won't want to spend too long there because the game will be totally different once you get to ladder.

Don't worry about your stats. Win/loss ratio isn't shown to anyone and your position within your current league gets reset every 7-8 weeks anyway.

I assume you don't play Zerg or Terran cos 4/6queen openers almost are always accompanied by an early Baneling attack with Roaches or Lings which can do anything from slight damage where he trades inefficiently but kills off the majority of your army to ending the game which doesn't put the Zerg behind cos he just makes 15 drones during.

I assume your referring to the 11/11 variation of the proxy rax which is all-in and you shouldn't expect it to work every game and therefore isn't a viable suggestion. If you go 12/14 rax then the Zerg is free to drone scout it even though it may not be all-in.

A 3CC build has somewhat become popular as some people think this is a good strat atm but it's incredibly greedy and is easily punished if scouted. Not to mention the Zerg will usually get a third at 5mins at the earliest and you won't be safe enough to protect a third till atleast 10mins+

What league are you? I don't see how a zerg can make 4-6 queens AND do an early (<7 mins) gas-heavy attack.

Masters Terran,Protoss and Plat Zerg.

I'm not saying it's incredibly early but it's simple enough to delay your third, stay on gas to some extent after speed, grab a second gas nearer the time and then go with banelings with roaches or lings.
You must not be a Terran or Protoss if you haven't come across it.

Agreed, just jump straight into Bronze ladder. It'll take you atleast a month+ to learn the basics, metagame and get into the hang of things.

Hi all,

I have just had to reinstall windows onto an ssd have reinstalled SC2 too. I have just logged into my battlenet account and none of my settings have saved :( I am sure that keybindings are saved to battlenet but my custom set up is not there!

Is there anything I can do to get my old settings back or do I have to spend ages re doing my old bindings?

Edit: Also, what is StarCraft®II: Arcade (1.5.0) Beta. It's just turned up in my blizzard account

If it hasn't saved them then unfortunately it looks like you've got a task at hand XD

SC2 Arcade is the multiplayer custom maps (like Raynors Castle or Photon Cycles) so basically minigames created in the mapeditor.

I would play more often, but Frank is pressuring me to 1v1 :p I like having a partner cover for my mistakes. :D

Alright seriously when is everyone on these days? Since diablo came out sc2's been a barren wasteland in the channels i frequent, or at least as far as i can tell. Managed a pleasant chat with bismarck the other day but thats about it! :p

I've felt the same recently, IMO its probably down to the new patch aswell as there being a lot of interest focused on other games atm (DayZ,D3,Various betas).
