**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

I'm in Silver league.

*uninstalls game*

I wanted to be forever bronze, why oh why??

All it took was one easy ZvZ.

Tried to go for Gold, beat another Z (was close but 2 1 lings are deadly apparently), but no promotion. :(

Keep fighting or Baby Beel will not be pleased.

Annyeong an unknown player? XD He may not be that good but he's not an unknown player.

I said relatively unknown player. Compared to Maru, MKP, BBBB, Taeja, Annyeong is relatively unknown. Tell me, was I wrong to say that he's relatively unknown?

Those matches were completely thrown, everyone past Annyeong made extremely questionable decisions and even made blatant mistakes (MKP forgot siege at one point and he had more than 2 tanks already out!). I'm not saying it was on purpose but it was an absolutely BS performance by Prime.

Ummm... The definition of throwing a match is losing it on purpose

The only reason pros are winning against Zergs is that they can micro way better than the average masters player against Banelings and Infestors which take 10x less skill to use than the splitting required to survive them OR just trade efficiently.

The way TvZ is at the moment it just doesn't make sense. You can argue TvP is imbalanced also but at the very least it makes sense in what the Terran needs to do to win.

I've seen plenty of matches where terran beats zerg without impossibly good marine splitting micro but it's pointless trying to argue that terran has any chance below code S as you seem determined that it's almost impossible to win and there's no way I can change your mind.

Doesn't matter, Zerg has the map control which makes them capable of getting extra bases depending on the map.

Yeah I was being sarcastic in this comment :D

Relative to what? Someone who doesn't watch Starcraft? XD

You can throw a match and it not be by purpose.

I've seen plenty of them too and you can win with Mech rather easily which = turtling for 15mins. I've never said that a Terran cannot have any chance of winning at all and yes, it is almost impossible if the Zerg is just as good as yourself.
Same BS as TvP, more units that are easier to use with much more damage potential.

Sarcasm.... NO.

I havent played this since about 4 weeks aftet it released and im installing it again now. I think im gonna start the sp all over again (done about 20 levels) as i cant remember the plot. Then ill jump onto mp, i hear its a brilliant game for a learning curve. I shouldnt be left behind in the bronze stage will i, surely by now everyones on silver or gold?

Glhf you will enjoy the capaign, it's great. I was getting bored of gaming in general and especially RTS but I thought I'd pick up SC2 since the reviews were so good. The campaign is so fresh and manages to come up with cool tasks and units which keep it really fun and satisfying. I went straight into the challenges from there, then multiplayer. Turned out I just needed to find a good game to get myself stuck into and SC2 was it.

Started off in bronze and worked my way up to mid diamond where I am currently (though I had big gaps during which I didn't play the game at all).

The learning curve seems steep right at the start but once you learn the very basics (which doesn't take long no matter how bad you are) you will stop getting pwned and will start to win about ~50% of your games.

The leagues are split by % (ie bronze, silver, gold and platinum are 20% of the playerbase each, masters is top 3% and diamond is the remaining 20%). Therefore there are still loads of bronzies, they are just perhaps a bit more skilled now than they were back when the game was released. You'll still cut through them and rapidly advance to silver or gold though if you focus on improving :D

Oh well I finally got my mojo back.

On a 15game winning streak. Found some good builds that work in TvP and TvZ and have only lost a few since I started using them =D

My TvT is still a bit iffy but the matchup is very volatile in that a slight mistake can completely lose you the match.

whats the tvz build?

Nothing that hasn't been used in pro play before.

Started using Hellion/Banshee after 1rax gasless FE. Never used it before cos I didn't think I had the micro to use it effectively but I've been doing great with it. Basically pushing out with 6-8hellions and 2 banshees kill any amount of Queens, lings or blings. It'll kill any fast third along with the drones on it.
I usually transition to mech with quick 1-1 upgrades and a third. I've found the hard counter is quick mutas although it depends on how quickly you rush to Thors (you could probably sacrifice one of the upgrades/armories to get out Thors quicker)

Also been using blue flame hellion openers which I do off of a gas first (1 base play) and expand before I leave with 4-5hellions. It's not the way most pro Terrans use it though, most of them do it off a 1rax gasless FE.

Interesting. I played a few games today (my first 1v1s in weeks) and won 3, lost 1 which was way better than I expected. The loss was to a DT proto**** who I outplayed in every way, aside from not building a turret :/ my own fault I know but annoying nonetheless.

In TvT I find it best to do a 1 rax FE then throw down double gas, followed by a 2nd rax then a factory, then 3rd gas, then ebay etc etc. Your composition is basically mass tanks, supported by x+1 vikings (x being the number of enemy vikings :D) and marines as mineral sink. Keep the watchtowers, place marines at drop paths and try to set your siege tanks up near his 3rd. Transition to sky terran if the game gets that far.

It's pretty standard I know, I've tried other builds but none are as successful as this one. It gives you seige tanks earlier than every build except 111.

nice, I've switched to toss for a while, well not switched but been playing on toss account, win a lot of my games but lose almost all PvZ's.

-_- 27%...

PvZ is a very weird matchup. I'd say it's a pretty stupid one IMO with a vortex deciding it all endgame.

What program is that aswell Tune? I forget it's name and I should get it.

SC2 gears, it's great for keeping track of which matchups and maps you do well in. Also good for tracking APM

God damn, wish I heard about this event earlier.. it's only 20-30 mins away from where I live :(
It was very poorly advertised sadly.

It was actually advertised by the London Barcraft quite well and on Teamliquid and Dignitas's website. If you missed it then it's cos you don't pay attention to the front page of Starcraft 2 (Teamliquid!) XD

Yea I know what it does, just always forget to grab it when I see it.
