**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

Well maybe i'm blind, but I still don't see it on the front page  also, I wasn't aware of a London barcraft :o

Yea there's a London Barcaraft that takes place for most events (MLG,Dreamhack) at..

Assembly House
292 Kentish Town Road. NW5 2TG, London, United Kingdom

They've got their own room there now so they have plenty of tables and space. The games are shown on a big projector screen iirc.

Also tonight Gamerbase in London is having an all-night lock-in for the WCS (People are welcome if they didn't go to WCS as you still have to pay)

Also it's never on the front page, you should check the tournament section.

just had a 1hr 10min 4v4 game which was the most tense thing i've ever experienced. it was one of those games where basically everywhere has been mined out and the game become super close. i spent about 30mins with nothing except a floating rax in the corner, 3 ravens and 4 mutas. managed to use seeker missiles to whittle down the enemy MMM ball but they still had about 10x our army value.

eventually our guerilla tactics (one of my allies had 4 roaches, the others had quit) left them with only 1 pylon and so they held position around it so the game ended as a stalemate which considering the balance of power at the 30min mark, before we starting using hit and run tactics, is pretty insane.

Sheep, stop being a noob and go play 1v1s. T_T

DeMuslim claiming Zerg OP was the reason he lost. Looked like he was pretty helpless in both matches no matter what he did. Sent helions out which didn't do much with so many queens and the zerg just ran away with the game after that.

XD Idra would have something to say about that. Especially after that TvZ drama from SotG a few days back.

O well, I'm back to just hating Storm cos it's so OP.

XD coincidentally i did a binge of about 15 today. 6 were TvT and I won all of them. 3 TvZs which I won 2 of. And 6 TvP..... I lost all 6. The 6th one was a random player. I asked at the start of the game "are you protoss" and just quit when he said he was. I CBA with that BS matchup anymore, it's just a joke. My win rates according to SC2 gears are: TvP 51% TvT 71% TvZ 56%. The TvP figure is skewed because I did a load of practice games against a mate, my ladder win % is more like 35% and most of them were back when I used to 111.

On a brighter note I've been raping in TvT and TvZ recently. Here's a replay of each if people are interested in what I find successful in mid-high diamond:

TvZ http://drop.sc/210683 CC first. Continuous marine pressure while adding rax. Quad gas when you reach reasonable saturation (haven't refined the timing yet). Research stim, 1/1 and combat shields as you get the gas in that order, then add a factory and get medivacs. Keep pressuring whenever you see fit. The game usually ends when stim, 1/1 and combat shields all finish, as that's when you should do your big push and take a 3rd.

TvT http://drop.sc/210687 1 rax FE, then double gas. Add a couple more rax and get siege tanks ASAP. Try and siege up in a good position and make sure to defend against drops (can't stress that enough). Keep massing tanks until you are maxed and on 4 bases, then start to build extra OCs, sac SCVs for supply and transition to sky terran.

The latter replay above has a pretty spectacular game-ending nuke at the end. My 2 flatmates were watchiing me play and we all jumped out of our seats laughing, it was awesome.

As far as TvP goes, I've been doing 1 rax FE into the usual MMMGV and it's just getting raped. I'm thinking maybe 2 rax -> banshees -> marines drops -> sky terran may be viable. Maybe not in GM or high masters, but I think in dia I should be able to make it work somehow. Can't do any worse than what I'm doing now tbh.

My TvP build is the fake 1rax FE into 3rax (move out with 7marines+4SCVs) and expand behind it.
If he expands and it's finished (or he lets it) then it's dead no matter what. He can't have enough out without pulling his workers to deal with the marines especially after the bunker is setup.

If he doesn't have enough sentrys and he hasn't expanded then I'll just suicide them into the worker line after killing his army and that I usually get atleast 6-7 workers.

It won't win the game but I'm pretty sure it meets the requirements for "early damage" that those two idiots David Kim and Dustin Browder was talking about.

I've had games where they rush storm though without me noticing and I still lose. Ghosts are just too expensive for them to be a response to HTs.

Might give that a try :)

Yeah. Ghosts should be 100 minerals 150 gas. It's stupid the amount of gas T has spare in late game against P.

The whole "get vikings to counter collossus" doesn't work too well for me either. Most of the time I don't buy enough and by the time I eventually kill all the colossi my ground army is all dead anyway so it's too late. The few times I buy just the right number, I narrowly win the engagement then get overwhelmed by a warp in of chargelots.

Like I said, unless I can discover a strat that gives me at least some semblance of an even playing field then I'm just quitting every TvP at the start.

Off to do the West Highland Way today though, followed by revision so it'll be about 6 weeks before I can play again :(

Been doing a lot of experimenting in team games. Ravens officially suck balls. PDD is great and is the only reason to buy them, but turrets are useless. They're ok for harassment but ravens are too slow and expensive to be used for that. Seeker missile costs so much energy and has such a short range you basically get 1 per raven and the raven always dies, so the amount of damage it does isn't worth it. Compared with high templar, which are significantly cheaper, MUCH faster to build and can be warped in anywhere on the map from T1 production facilities, which can do 2 storms at full energy and a 3rd soon after. And also have feedback which happens to counter every tech unit T has. And can warp into the really powerful unit the archon when they're out of energy.

Protoss on battlenet forums "terrans just need to try new strategies instead of just doing the same thing they have always done. when was the last time you saw them get BCs or thors or ravens? theyre noobs they don't even use half their tech tree"

....yeah because it's not worth using.

Yea there's your problem :p

vsP it's probably only worth it for PDD and detection vs DTs and observers. If you can get a viking shot off against any observers in their army then ghosts become 50x more powerful. Yea you can harass but like you said it's slow and you might as well drop a medivac full of marines into their third mineral line.

Ravens seem to have come into their own way more in vsZ and vsT though, pdd turning the tide in viking battles or seeker missile taking down clumped broodlords or clumped vikings can really make a difference :)

Yea they should nerf Ghosts primary attack (because they are strong) and make it so snipe and EMP are as useful as Fungal,Storm,Infested Terrans,Feedback etc etc.. along with their cost back to being gas heavy like ALL casters.

I don't struggle with Collosi too much. 4 vikings for every Collosi is the usual rule and if you see a robo bay you drop down an extra starport.

If you feel that way I would just 11/11 rax. I do that to ANY random player I meet on ladder and half the time they're Protoss and I walk away the victor XD

T3 never works. Whenver I play team games I always play Protoss and just go Chargelot Archon because Storm/Feedback is OP XD
The TvP matchup is how Blizz designed it and they know that which is why they're trying to make mech more viable in HotS and it will do but I'm unsure of how it will play out with all those damn new terribly OP units for Zerg/Toss.

I wouldn't waste money on a Raven if he's going DTs, I'd just save scans from Macro Orbitals cos he's obviously a noob XD

In TvZ I find they're worth it only IF you've going biomech or bio which I hardly do. mech = plenty of vikings and Thors.

In TvT I use them lategame cos I always play mech which means most people react with throwing a lot more marauders into the mix or even transition to BC lategame. PDD negates both of those units XD

Would love some help on how to beat a zerg going mass roach on 2-3 bases vs me

http://drop.sc/210994

Felt like I was level with him in terms of income but he just overwhelmed me. Was it my micro that failed or what? I would love some tips on how to beat that match if anyone wants to give me some tips!

Cheers

As a complete newbie to this game, if I purchase it and jump online after the story mode, am I just going to get crushed in to oblivion?

Pretty much. It's good to do the campaign first, since it's a good story and game, plus you'll get used to a few basics. Then you should start on the challenges and also watch youtube beginner tutorials and slowly you'll get better and better.

Also Cheers Kamwah

Well the past few days I've gone 35-10 on ladder. Today I come on and I can't touch a single ****ing Protoss or Zerg -_- and I'm not doing anything different, they all just A-move into me and win.

****ing imbalanced piece of ****.
