**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

First off all I wasn't the one that was asking for advice on how to beat mass tempests, I was just trying to help the guy who wanted advice.

Secondly, I do consider myself a bad player with many many weaknesses (micro, army control) but I am past Plat (Masters since Masters league was introduced in Wol) so I believe I have a good understanding of the game. And no, I don't wait until i max out.

I just didn't like Kamwah's response about someone being "bad" if he lets them mass such an army.Sure, it may be a mistake but that doesn't mean you are bad.

Sorry but you're bad if you let him mass Tempests. It's the same as watching some guy mass Carriers.

If you can't accept that then oh well.

YOU ****ING EXPANSIONTERRAN.

sorry felt left out

Purdy. Do not bring your hate here! Patchzerg!

Ok I guess I am bad then, not gonna argue any more.

Peace

I love people who can't use logic.

I guess if you get supply-blocked once then you're also bad. O wait a sec? Logically someone with two brain cells would know that people make mistakes.

I guess I have to spell it out that making a mistake does not make you bad. Multiple re-occurrences of that mistake does make you bad.

Oh sorry, I thought you were trying not be a thunder **** and suggesting he isn't bad.

Plz don't delete me off steaam

I'm not trolling, you just wound up easy and throwing insults ;D

When you gonna BO5 starwarsmanz? Although probably don't want to reveal the barcode account to be fair.

Some BO5s on here would be pretty cool

Oh yeah :-/ Then my apologies for the misunderstanding

Does anyone here use camera hotkeys? I've only noticed that pro players use them and are constantly bouncing around with them, but I just double tap my control groups when I want to move to my army etc. Should I learn to use them more efficiently, and where should I be putting them? Do you have to set camera positions everytime you start a game?

I use camera hotkeys a lot. I main as terran but i've been playing a decent amount of zerg too recently. I find it takes quite a while for camera hotkeys to begin to feel natural but once they do they definitely speed up a lot of tasks, like checking saturation, transferring workers etc. Certainly worth doing.

I haven't played much. Less than 10 games perhaps.

Those averages are meaningless because of outlier games screwing it up. Like having a game where you stop at the end and talk to the opponent, or both end up base trading and being supply capped for 5+ minutes. Also the fact that blizzard APM is completely bugged in team games and even the measurement itself is iffy... I'd just ignore it.

Just started playing again now HotS is out and enjoying the game a lot more than WoL.

Does anyone use a mechanical keyboard for SC2? Thinking of getting one to replace my ageing G15.

Not expecting it to improve my play but wondering if anyone has found the transition difficult to get used to when playing?

I use a Filco Majestouch II ninja TKL board. Got it about a year ago and it's served me wel so far. Wouldn't say it made me play better but it does make playing and typing more satisfying and enjoyable. Would recommend my board as it's awesomely sturdy and well built, however it's very expensive and there are definitely cheaper alternatives which are nearly, or just, as good. I didn't shop around much before getting mine.

Anyone got any tips for diamond level TvZ? I have a 100% win rate against Terran, 80% against Protoss but only 40% against zerg (out of 25-30 games). I'm finding mutas much harder to deal with as zergs seem much more on top of drops these days. Speedvacs don't help that much since the large distance between bases means that mutas will still catch them running away. I can sorta trade semi-evenly with zerg through the mid game but when ultras come out i die every time. Those things are so damn strong now I don't know how to deal with them.

Previously I'd just get MMM and keep marines at the front and ultras weren't much of an issue but now they just tear apart everything on the ground. Anyone got any advice? I've been opening up with a reaper expand into a +1, stim, combat shield, 2 medivac bio push off 2 bases. That's so far never managed to kill them off, so from there I just go into standard bio play with some mines added. Like i said, it works on through the midgame but then dies in the late game.

Been watching QXC and he's killing Zerg's left and right.
Reaper expand into two factory hellion, get map control and trade even for drone kills. Watch for the counter and change to tech or bio. Hard to pull off for me. HIH

Tried using a few mines for defense against muta? Need to be careful you dont lose your entire mineral line but could be ok :p, or mech?

I'd suggest going Mech although that's because I dislike bio TvZ. Most pros are using Bio+Mine and only going siege tanks if completely necessary.

Ultras are so strong now you have to play really well against them to win on even upgrades. I'd suggest Mines+Marauders, you can't shun that 125 damage even if it doesn't hit the Ultra and takes out 15-20lings XD

I would suggest you still open with Hellion/Banshee if you're good enough with it. A round of WMs after the first Hellions make roach pushes weaker and easier for a single Banshee to clean up.

Yeah, I'll try that next time. The problem I really have with mutas though is that they shut down drop play so hard. It makes it extremely difficult to keep the zerg's drone/base/larvae count down and obviously if i fail to do that he's gonna win easily. The whole matchup is based around the terran killing off drones/bases to stay even and it feels like that's very hard at the moment.

Overall though, I'm loving the changes in HOTS. The widow mine and the viper are probably the best additions as they both make games far more entertaining to watch and play and more micro-based. Not too keen on the tempest though, and I feel the ultra buff may have been a bit too much. Maybe 25/35 instead of flat 35 would have been a less drastic buff.
