Oscar Pistorius thread

I'd just like to say I haven't got one thought either way about Pistorius because I'm not your average OCUK Judge Dredd who think they are an all knowing Judge, Jury & Executioner. I'm just throwing a few things into the pot that you can be 100% sure your partner is next to you when they're not.
Would I fire 4 shots through a bathroom door? - I don't know unless I live in SA and know what the daily threat is like.

It's not just down to whether you're 100% sure your Gf is still in bed. It's the inconsistencies.

You come in from outside and hear a noise. You automatic reaction is it's a intruder intending to do you serious harm that warrants killing them. Or could it simply be the person who shares the house??

You go to the bed and fumble for your illegally owned pistol and still don't notice if your gf is present?

You drag yourself across the bedroom on stumps again without being aware of where your gf is? Or waking her?

You then fire 4 shots through a closed door, listening to the reaction without considering it could be the person you share the house with?

Add to that, local residents heard raised voices for a considerable time prior to the gun fire.

Ballistics appear to support the weapon was fired by someone standing IE he had is prosthetics fitted (Unfortunately Mr Plod is an idiot and probably a killer himself) So important things amy have been missed and lost for good.

There were drugs next to the bed Testosterone? and cough herbal remedy. Could he have simply been off his head and acting irrationally? (this has yet to be confirmed I think)

I'm sure over time more evidence will materialise, specifically the phone records that may support the notion they had been arguing for hours before.

Of course we only have opinions here so aren't judge jury or executioner anyway.

One thing that strikes me as being odd is if it were such a dangerous place to live why was he even there? He's worth millions with several homes there and abroad. Why even be there? Is it the family home or was he simply satying there? (thats a question as much as an observation)

I am still waiting for some Ocuk photoshop mock up to be posted.

Along the lines of Jeremy Kyle.

Thank you very much, right before the break I was talking to Oscar here for his lie detector results, so lets do those all important lie detector results. We asked did you on the night in question kill your girlfriend in premeditated fashion, you said no...... Well i'm not really surprised here the test said you was lying!

I think the fact they had not been together long and also the fact she was "allowed" to stay over would also indicate he was not used to having someone else at home on a regular basis, I know that for me it takes a good while for me to get use to having someone stay the night so that could well be a factor in why he didn't check because let's face none of us are that sharp at 3am after just waking up.

It could also go the other though he let her stay because he was sick her and wanted her gone. Although the latter seems highly unlikely based on the testimony of his and her friends' the both thought the world of each other.

It's the inconsistencies.

You're not wrong there, trouble is its the prosecution that has the majority of them.

You go to the bed and fumble for your illegally owned pistol and still don't notice if your gf is present?

Wasn't illegal. Also as others have said I've been up in the night plenty of times to see to the kids, assuming the wife was in bed then got the shock of my life when she was already standing over them. Not inconceivable in my mind that scenario happening - especially with a rush of adrenaline\focus on the noise

You drag yourself across the bedroom on stumps again without being aware of where your gf is? Or waking her?

This is a person that has had no lower legs his whole concious life - barring injury\other reasons I'm sure he could walk perfectly well on his stumps such as this. I've even seen people run (of sorts) without the use of prosthesis.

Add to that, local residents heard raised voices for a considerable time prior to the gun fire.

Again, the police and or witnesses can't verify what they heard or where is was from - never mind the timescales.

Ballistics appear to support the weapon was fired by someone standing IE he had is prosthetics fitted

No it hasn't.. There isn't any ballistics/forensics reports yet and we won't hear from them until the trial time. Botha made the assumption of downward shots having seen the door but nothing else.

There were drugs next to the bed Testosterone? and cough herbal remedy. Could he have simply been off his head and acting irrationally? (this has yet to be confirmed I think)

Ignoring the fact that it is supposedly not even a banned substance, I think people have this misconception that steroids\testosterone will turn you into some mindless hulk immediately. Couldn't really be farther from the truth and even if he had taken it it would not have made him 'off his head' unless he was mis-sold LSD or something.

Oh and he went to the hospital for blood tests etc as standard procedure before the bail hearing. If he had anything that would have been used against him then.

I'm sure over time more evidence will materialise, specifically the phone records that may support the notion they had been arguing for hours before.

Don't doubt they will turn up, but they may equally show nothing at all.

Why is it odd that a South African lives in South Africa? He lives and trains there, never mind having all his friends and family there. Do you think it odd that ronaldinho now lives in brazil again? Not the safest place in the world either.

Again, I want to point out that I'm no more for/against OP but rather waiting for the facts before I condemn anyone. As it stands, his story makes much more sense and answers more questions than the farcical set of circumstances the prosecution put forward. Something the magistrate acknowledged yesterday.

And thats another thing, if his girlfriend was a fat ugly old cow i would be all for shooting her dead and making some burgers out of her but the fact of the matter she wasnt all i can think is what a terrible waste of sexy vagina

We all thought it. You're the only one to say it.

So he is definitely, 100% guilty, even though neither he nor the prosecution have yet had a chance to gather or to give evidence at a trial proper.

I'm relieved you're not running the judiciary, there would be innocent people filling every jail in the country.

This makes me laugh, really it does. Ok so who was it that shot and killed her if it wasnt poor old Oscar then??.

Hes definitely guilty of killing her that much is for sure but the question remains, did he pre-meditate her murder or was it an accident gone horribly wrong??. That is what needs to be proved when it comes to trial in the future and hopefully it will be proved either way.

As StooM has pointed out... Please don't post just after reading what The Sun or the Daily Mail has written, just makes you look daft.

I never meant to say that he was guilty of nothing, my argument is that we don't know yet whether it's murder or manslaughter. Apologies if it didn't come across like that.

No worries, indeed we dont know for sure if its a pre-meditated murder or manslaughter. Only people who would know for sure is Oscar himself or his now dead gf.

I'm sure as time goes by some of these "inconsistancies" will be addessed by the courts, and magnified by the prosecution and defence lawyers.

With regards to the pistol, though technically not illegal. He should not have been in possession of such a pistol. He applied in 2008 and was rejected, only to ge granted a licence in 2010. "He should have been denied a licence for the handgun when he applied in 2010 because he had already spent a night in jail for allegedly assaulting a woman at a party a year earlier."... it should have been later revoked because of his involvement in other incidents, including an alleged threat to break another man’s legs in November and an accidental gunshot at a restaurant in an upscale Johannesburg shopping mall in January. It would appear Mr Pistorius has a short fuse.
(Also I'm sure I've read that the .38, ammunition found was unlicenced, but I can't find the ref. wher I read it)

That's true and a good point that I was about to make myself. However, Pistorious's argument for him being so afraid was because of his loss of mobility.

Again, the police and or witnesses can't verify what they heard or where is was from - never mind the timescales.

What they said is that they could not idenify "specific" voices, or be certain of the time. That doesn't mean there wasn't screaming or shouting, they also said they heard the gunfire.

No it hasn't.. There isn't any ballistics/forensics reports yet and we won't hear from them until the trial time. Botha made the assumption of downward shots having seen the door but nothing else.

That is true. However in Hilton Bothas, opinion he thought as though the shots had be angled down. The full ballistics report is to follow. Though I suspect all of Hilton Botha. reports and testimonies may well be picked over or dismissed in the coming weeks.

Couldn't really be farther from the truth and even if he had taken it it would not have made him 'off his head' unless he was mis-sold LSD or something.

The claim is that these substances were legal "herbal remedies" However they did not say what these legal drugs were? Also how many herbal remedies require needles. Likewise I mentioned the drugs simply as a possible reason for the apparent extreme behaviour.

IMO if Hilton Botha, had not been so obviously incompetant at his job there would have been far fewer unresolved questions even at this early point in the proceedings.

On contrary, I've posted because I don't belive everything I read and ask questions. I simply highlighted what I thought to be valid inconsistencies from a number of sources. None of which were the Mail or the Sun

If I accidentally shot my wife 4 times and hit her with a cricket bat a few more times I'd be going to Prison or a much worse place and rightfully so.

What's up with Oscar's brother also being charged with murder? Just saw the breaking news on the BBC app on iPhone. No article yet.

If you fire 4 shots into a small toilet cubicle then i think there is no doubt that you are trying to kill the thing that is inside the cubicle. I dont really see how you can claim self-defence or anything else given that the "intruder" was locked, or at the very least confined, in the toilet, you havent seen them and you dont know if they are armed or what they are doing or what their intention is.

Thats aside from the very idea that an armed burglars first thought up entering the home of multi-millionaire Oscar Pistorius is "head for the toilet, i fancy a pee, and i'll steal some shampoo while im there".

If you give Pistorius every benefit of the doubt with regard to his story (which i dont think most do) to me its still murder and i was really surprised he got bail, but then the judge was a disgrace there, announcing it like an X-Factor result. It will be fascinating to see the case unfold when it comes to court. You can hide but you can't run Oscar! (:D)

His brother is being charged with culpable homicide (looks like dangerous driving or something) dating back to 2010.

Being careless with life obviously runs in the family.

How are these charges (him and the police officer) suddenly coming to prominence now? Neither seemed to be worthy of mention until now, surely it doesnt take 3 years to bring it to court?!

Totally agree.
