Oscar Pistorius thread

take is plaggy feet away from him and lock him up

Although i think your statement is pretty moronic, disturbingly this might happen, I read today the Pretoria Central prison where he would be sent if he is found to be guilty, would indeed take his artificial legs away in case they were used as a weapon, they guy would be confined to a wheel chair.

I disagree with this, if he is found guilty, thats all well and good, lock him away for his crimes, but to take his legs away is going too far.

He should at the very least end up facing charges for culpable homicide as mentioned earlier.

I can't help but feel he may end up with a very minor sentence or none at all though.

He murdered that woman in cold blood. One of the witnesses has just stated the shots came after the screams. I won't feel sorry for the demented b@stard if he spends the rest of his life in a wheel chair, he deserves it.

I would think the fact that he shot his girlfriend would be playing a significant part in that particular posters decision to assign guilt or not.

That's not the question that's being discussed at the trial though. The charge is that he "unlawfully and intentionally" killed her.

Edit: ^^ One witness has stated that. That witness heard shots and screaming, and her testimony is already looking questionable as it differs significantly from her husband's who was in the same house. Well done, you've just convicted a man to a life sentence and to be in a wheelchair on the basis of one piece of poor evidence.

The neighbour is annoying me. She speaks perfect English and yet chooses to speak in Afrikaans which has already caused translation issues. She was even questioned by the judge if she was comfortable speaking in English, and she said fairly comfortable but prefers Afrikaans.

It's making things very difficult, and others have stated the translation is not 100% accurate. She's even corrected the translator on several occasions with the correct English translation of her own words.

She also keeps reverting to the harrowing emotions she experienced on the night, which is frustrating. Just answer the questions.

We'll see won't we? His story is laughable. Burglar comes in and locks himself in the bathroom? What for? To dig an escape tunnel? Why did Reeva lock the door anyway? Do you lock yourself in the bathroom when your partner is sleeping two feet away?

He's got guilty written all over, there's no way in hell he's getting away with this.

No, you're right, we might as well do away with criminal trials altogether, and just look at what the media has to say.

I haven't once said that I believe him to be innocent. I don't know the facts. You don't know the facts. Only Pistorius truly knows what happened. My point is that he deserves a trial which is as fair as possible in the circumstances, and nobody at this moment in time should be sat calling his story laughable and calling for his legs to be taken away and for him to be thrown in jail.

If you were a burgler going into the bedroom to steal things and you heard someone moving you might head for the nearest place to hide which would probably be the bathroom. His story is pretty dodgy but you can't say he is guilty just based on that one thing.

A lot of people lock the bathroom door, even in completely safe surroundings. It's habit.

I wouldn't say his story is laughable. A trial in this particular scenario couldn't be more necessary; all the evidence needs to be brought to the table. I don't know if the lack of a jury will help or hinder his case though.

Reeva Steenkamp's mother looks on from the public gallery as her daughter's killer goes on trial for murder.

didn't know he's already been found guilty. Assume the trial is to set the punishment in SA?

You're confusing "killer" with "murderer".

What media? I've just stated his version of the events. He claims Reeva went in the bathroom and locked herself in (who does that?) after which he shot her through the door four times (who does that?), having mistaken her for a burglar. Some gulible people such as yourself buy that crazy story but it will not stand in a Court of Law.

Where have I said that I buy that story? I've said that he deserves a fair trial, something which you seem dead against.

There is no question that Oscar killed Reeva. That's not what is being decided.

So you think its fair to lock him up AND take his legs from him, why exactly? because they are easy to take off? why deny him a right to walk? his imprisonment is punishment enough, surely? they dont hack off an able bodies killers legs do they?

What if someone takes his legs from him and kills/maims him, or somebody else, with them?
