Oscar Pistorius thread

He's crying and being sick for himself, it's not remorse it's concern that he's going to be sent to prison for 25 years +

His version of events so far doesn't make sense imo.

The prosecutor is making him look like a fool, Oscar claiming that he fired because he was scared and felt vulnerable, prosecutor rightly points out that Oscar had gone chasing after them instead of escaping the house.

Yep,

I don't think it's reasonable to claim that he wanted to avoid a confrontation and had no intention of shooting anybody - yet he grabbed his gun (without checking the bed) and went straight towards the source of danger, then opened fire without seeing anybody.

Seems like crazy testimony

He claims to have shouted at Reeva to get down as he went towards the bathroom. Doesn't that suggest he was already thinking about firing his gun ?

And if he was shouting so loudly, wouldn't she have heard him from the toilet and responded ?

edit: poor typing skillz

The likely scenario to me. They had an argument, he got into a rage as it appears he has anger issues, and maybe some controlling other people issues, Reeva retreats to the toilet to get away from him. He, in anger, shoots 4 times through the door killing her.

Now I don't know if he meant to kill her but firing into that door into a room that is very small, any reasonable person would conclude that firing into that door and room would most likely mean anyone in there would be hit by the bullets.

He's guilty of murder in my eyes.

He couldn't lie straight in bed.

The way I see it, he's either telling lies or he behaved in such a totally stupid and callous way, that I'm not sure I see any real difference.. Guilty as charged imo.

i've not followed the case at all because quite frankly, i don't really care... :p but i've had the trial on for about the last 20 minutes and i have to say, oscar is not making it easy for anyone to believe him.

It's so blindingly obvious that he killed the poor girl.

If he gets away with it, the judge wants shooting aswell tbh.

Well if she does let him off I suggest she has to spend a few nights at his house.

Has he managed to 'do an OJ'?

Better than OJ; in the OJ case they couldn't find the murder weapon and he didn't confess to the killings.

Maria Miller, Roche and OP - I know there is a joke in there somewhere ;)

Am I the only one who keeps thinking that OP refers to the Original Poster?

Reeva retreats to the toilet to get away from him.

What I don't get is why would she retreat to a tiny bathroom cubicle from which there is no escape rather than leave the house? I guess people don't think rationally in these situations, but if she did genuinely fear for her life it seems a strange decision.

I kind of hope he just snaps and confesses. Then Mr. Nel just goes "I rest my case" and sits down (whilst putting sunglasses on and yelling yeaaaaahhh)

That, my friend, is not the riposte you probably hoped it would be! If the law allows a citizen to own firearms it would be in everyone's interest for those owners to become experts at handling such weapons, with comprehensive knowledge of gun safety at the forefront of such matters.

Yet only about 12 out of every 100 South Africans actually own guns let alone know how to use them, they seem to manage just fine without whereas Oscar feels the need to be an expert marksman and carry one with him at all times despite living on a secured estate. How is he not gun obsessed? His first instinct at an intruder was to grab his gun and go on the hunt.

If you heard an intruder in your house wouldn't your first reaction be to turn to the person in the bed next to you and say "did you hear that"?

His version of events are so odd to make them unbelievable!

was half expecting that this morning, he'll just break down and be bubbling out stuff like "we were arguing" "yes i knew she was in there" "lost temper aaaaawwwawawa wimper" "sniffle"

Probably the only room with a lock.

I doubt she expected him to go all Dirty Harry on her.

The fact that he killed her isn't being brought into question.

Escape the house without his legs, lol.

He is also famous which puts him more at risk than other people and I assume because he was in a secured estate he also shouldn't have locks on his doors? Carrying a gun and learning how to actually shoot your guns doesn't make you obsessed and I wish you'd stop saying expert marksman, it means nothing.

Yeah because going next to the bed to get his legs is a lot different to going next to the bed to get his gun. Once he had done the sensible thing and checked on Reeva he could quite as easily have started putting his legs on, with his gun by his side as a last resort if it makes him feel better. Of course if he had done the sane thing he would have known that it wasn't an intruder.

Don't be silly, fact is he was safer than much of the South African population and a lot of them manage alright without a gun and training.

Carrying a gun, learning to shoot shotguns etc, accidently firing a bullet in a restaurant, accidently firing a bullet out of a sun roof aren't the actions of someone who just keeps a gun for self defense purposes, neither is going into Rambo mode every time you think there's an intruder in the house.
