The accused successfully completed workshops and rehabilitation programmes, the judge says. She says retribution and deterrence "ought not to play a dominant role" in the sentence.

At least double would have been reasonable but anything goes in South Africa.

Watched it on Sky News. As she kept talking in circles, I thought there was something wrong with the feed.
 
Just been mentioned on the news that the minimum for murder is fifteen years which make this like a slap on the wrist.
 
They've already said the one year he's served won't count.

So he'll have to serve a minimum of 2 years before eligible for parole.

His legal time are unlikely to appeal due to the very lenient sentence, but the state prosecution may well as frankly 2 years for murder is just a joke!
 
The whole trial has been a joke.

He will end up serving 3 years in jail for the cowardly act of murdering his girlfriend through a toilet door.

He's basically gotten off lightly due to who he is. Anyone else had done that, they would be looking at 15 years minimum.

Great justice system in South Africa.
 
Wow 6 yrs eh?? What a joke that is.

Feel so sorry for Reeva's family, yet again let down by the justice system.

Pathetically inept sentence for a murdering a loved one.
