** OSX Yosemite **

... and my internet has dropped. Second time in 7 years!

:(

OK, so that wasn't a temporary blip!

Due to a multiple exchange outage in the North West of England a large number of our customers in Liverpool and Manchester are currently experiencing a loss of their broadband and talk services.

Erm, yes. Here's the ars technica review, make sure you have plenty of time to read it.

Something to read on my tethered connection to pass a few hours. I do enjoy a John Siracusa epic. ;)

Downloaded it as soon as it was available last night. Didn't have time to test it but it did hard crash when I tried to shut down....good start. Haha.

I preferred the old icons but it's not really a big deal. I'll give it a proper test over the weekend.

Really not sure if it is worth getting this. I am on a Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2010 model.Still running OS X 10.6.8. I do not use any of their in built apps for browsing or email. Use Chrome and Outlook 2007. I do not use an iPhone.

So is it worth me installing this. I am happy with what I have on here already.

The update finished without the need for a clean install. I had an issue with re-enabling TRIM on my 3rd party SSD, but its all working now.

I wanted to say that I hated the new flat look as much as I hated the god awful icons in iOS7...but I don't. I am actually very surprised at how much I am enjoying the new look (except the system preferences icon, it's horrible). Dark mode looks so slick!

How did you get TRIM working?

All installed and updated here....took about 20mins to install on my iMac. I think it looks great, I'm looking forward to giving Continuity ago when iOS 8.1 is released on Monday.

so far so meh...
There's quite a few neat little features like hand off, answering calls via computer and so on, but they rely on icloud. Perfect for home and certain businesses but at work we are bound by government and EU laws preventing us from using cloud services and storage, if we are not in full control of them.

If Apple allowed us to make our own icloud server, like microsoft does with 365, this would solve a lot of our issues.
