Overclockers UK Grand Opening!! Saturday 10th November

Wish Overclockers were closer to me as I would have been there at 4am cueing no problem as really need a few upgrades especially another 7970!
 
I did enjoy a nice 1/4 lb cheese burger and a can of pepsi :)

Our shop is now amazing inside, so many fun gadgets etc.

Haven't seen many people playing on the Arcade machine yet either.
 
Well I for one have just got back. I left my house at 7.40, got there just before 8 chatted to some nice folks who had been there for a while, Got a ticket for the items I wanted (plus one for a free usb stick and a free meal voucher). I quite enjoyed chatting to people in the queue about what they were building etc

For the people moaning about the doors being opened early.

GET A GRIP.

They opened, gave people who were there a ticket, then made you wait. If you rolled up at the same time as they did you too would have got a ticket. They started accepting tickets at 9 as they said.

There was no difference in opening the doors early, other than people knew straight away if they would get the items they wanted. .

I think it was mentioned in earlier posts the really early birds got a drink and some (cold) pizza but expecting OCUK to lay on snooker/pool tables to pass the time away is a bit much. :D

I think it was always a no-brainer that people were going to get there early - in some cases very early. Had I gone up (by train) I would have got there at 6AM at the latest.

By 9AM I was guessing there would be more people in the queue than products available (at least for the 7970, etc).

Gratz again to the bargain hunters :)
 
Congrats to Ocuk on your new store, wish you all every success. Would like to have been there but.... six hour drive, would have been all over the 7970. Looks to me like someone at Ocuk showed a lot of sense with how they dealt with the people who were there early, tickets etc, dont get the moaners at all, no justification, well done Ocuk. Now get those bloody pics up! :D:D
 
Glad I wasn't there cos I knew it will happen. I am not going to waste my petrol for go all the way to OCUK for nothing and time waste. I prefer massive online discount instead.

7970 crossfire OHHH YEAH!

only problem is: No room for soundcard!

The Sapphire card takes up just over 2 PCI slots :(. meaning I cant use the slot directly below.

It was quite simple store opens 9am with crazy deals.

Some mega keen people were arriving from 8pm yesterday, these people were the first in the queue because to put it as simple as possible they arrived first. They choose to get here so early and wait overnight to ensure they were first in the queue.

By midnight last night we had 6 customers waiting for the place to open. By 5am it was approx 10 customers and this kept increasing. People who arrives later were obviously behind them in the queue.

Its not like something out of a movie where people are left to fight outside and then all rush in at 9am.

It could not be any fairer, those who arrives first, were well first in the queue.

Fact is some of the crazy deals are still available, I still think we have a couple of the £99 PC's left and a handful of the Intel SSD's and we had plenty of great online deals for customers this weekend too which can also be purchased in store. :)

We've done our best and everything was done very fairly.

You didn't. I had ticket number two after arriving at 10:30 last night :) It's now installed and working nicely. Don't feel quite up to installing the rest of the stuff I got after no sleep though.

As for the people complaining what do you expect? I expected to have to kip in the car last night but the nice people at ocuk invited everyone in and gave us pizza and energy drinks. The ticketing ment we didn't all have to stand in a line by the door so could mill about chatting and everyone knew where we were at with availability rather than wasting your time queing for something you wouldn't get.

The show girl seemed nice enough though a little bit out of place and my sausage butty went down a treat.

First time I read that I thought it was some kind of innuendo, but then I assumed you were actually talking about the food :p
 
sounds like it was a 'hoot'...pity i am so far away but NM always the choice to punch a keyboard key rather than chat in person.
as for the neg's..well your always gonna get them so eat ya pizza and move on :)
 
thanks gibbo, saves me wasting a journey on an already busy day. glad it all went well. cant believe people moaning about tickets... its got to be the fairest way. sour grapes.
