Overclockers UK Grand Opening!! Saturday 10th November

Great event, really didn't expect to arrive before the locals. Can't thank everyone enough for organising it, the hospitality, welcoming, chats to pass the time, pizza, arcade fun, drinks, tour etc. Was good to meet up and put some faces to forum names.

Had expected to tuff it out in the car but thankfully when news spread that someone was outside, a posse of staff came to say hi and welcomed me in, cheers guys. The raffle tickets were a great idea as it made it more civilised so we didn't have to wait in a regimented que but still enabled first come first served.

The 7970 will now enable me to complete my build thats been going on for a number of months due to the staggered release of chipset, cpu and W8. Will eventually get some vids of my build up but got loads of editing to do.

Got about 6 hrs sleep when I got home around mid day, will hopefully get some more kip soon to get back on track.

Unfortunately when I got there (8:30am) I found out the 7970's had gone long before. It took longer to get to ocuk than I originally thought, so I decided to order one of these instead:

The queue was quite long, was waiting outside for 30mins and only 3 ish people came out with stuff, so I thought i'd head home and get the card delivered, I wanted the intel 330 series ssd though :(

Anyone else feel the shop was a bit small? for some reason I thought it would be massive :P

Sounds awesome would have loved to have been there. People get a grip these types of events are few and far between are are not setup so there is a mass free for all. At least OcUK went to the trouble of organising something. They could have knocked a tenner off a few items and that still would have been better than a poke in the eye. As a late discover of OcUk I can only say how highly I rate the service and depth of products available.

ye a little bit feel like the support desk at the back could have been put into use to allow the queue to go to the back and make it easier to get in an out

It's night and day from Fenton or even the previous place.

I went to the Fenton shop loads of times. It was tiny. Most times I went there there was a queue out the door and people would come out with trolleys full of goodies :D
Can't be as small as that surely.

No, it's much much nicer and bigger.

I am sure I saw and maybe even talked to you but not sure which one was you! lol

I would be the one looking ultra spaced out because I had worked all through the night to get things ready - I left about 1:30 for a little nap.

We'll get some pictures up sometime soon, glad to hear you came down :)

Couldn't make it down but it sounds like you guys put on an amazing event.
You guys need to stop complaining, they let people who where there at a STUPID time get the stuff they wanted, one thing you need to understand is, them people would have got the deals in anycase because they where first in the que. The whole ticket thing was just a nice thing for the staff to do for the people who got there first so they didn't have to just stand there for hours in the cold.

Well done OCUK!
