Overview: OCUK 4GHz Bundle!

for the guys running 12gb ram do you really notice any difference? do you use your pc's for something specific or are there genuine every benifits to 12gb?

rjkoneill, are you able to share on how well you got on with the 12GB's of RAM?

Just got a email saying my order has been shipped. :D

yes - i got the system to 3GHz stable for 14hrs using linpack to stress

it was shipped to you this morning :)

We have had a lot of customers asking why their bundles are not stable in the past few days, we have notes that the common problem is that people are trying to use the bundle with an insufficiant power supply.

I must stress... If you are considering a purchase, please ensure that your power supply is powerful enough to run the bundle and your graphics card of choice.

I reccomend a 650w corsair or better as the minimum

Are you sure that its just customers using weaker p/s units or something else ? perhaps the hotter weather has effected stability/temps ?

Also are you stress testing the bundles say overnight before despatching them ?

Bundles have all been thoroughly tested, the popularity has swamped our technical department and caused a backlog of several days for system builds.

We have shipped into the hundreds of the 4.0GHz bundle now with only a couple of reported issues, our technical department in our new premesis is HOT all the time. If anyone puts the bundles in an ambient temperature warmer than what they are made in at the moment I would have to ask the question why. :p

We know it is the PSU as once the customer has replaced this the issue has been instantly resolved. :)

Well hows the backlog then? I ordered this bundle yesterday afternoon, hopeing to get it tommorrow as main PC MB died so I decided to go the whole hog and upgrade whole pc starting with this little bundle of joy!

hey guys, iv only just joined the forum i'v been ringing ocuk hoping to get some help but they been busy for the last 2 hours. Got my bundle yesturday but am having problems with it, i run prime 95 blend just as a quick test and the max temp it went to was 79 on one of the cores but after 5 mins it shut down. Put on a game not a new game medieval 2-tw as it was infront of me and the comp froze. Not only that but when i first booted up it said that there was a problem with the overclock and was running stock you know as if it had crashed from an oc, but after one or to restarts it loaded the ocuk profile? Dont get me wrong its a great bundle and i really like it but i'v just got these niggles.

It shouldnt be my power supply thou as iv got a hiper 880w from ocuk and 6 fans running i think possibly it could be one of the voltages maybe, because i dont think its getting too hot? im not going to fiddle yet as im new to the i7 and qpi etc. So any ideas on why its doing it, il give ocuk another ring tomoz. Its fine otherwise just only get problems when i stress tested it and ran that game?, i'v just tried a different game (portal) which i would have thought a bit hevier on the computer and it worked so i dont know what it could be maybe a fluke with the game that crashed? Thanks

WARNING, WARNING Will Robinson :D
Sorry, couldnt resist as those Hipers arnt exacaly known for there reliability, infact no less than 3 of them have failed on people this week alone that I am personaly aware of
It may or may not be PSU related but id put good money on it.

well i got the psu on 21 march 2008 from ocuk, i'v hardly used it and didnt need it as i wasnt ocing and had nothing power hungry but now are you saying its probably not up to the job. I think it has a 2 year garantee but if it still runs does it mean i have to keep it because if it doesnt run this system iv only got a 8600gt so if i get a 295 or something god help me, if it cant run this then its not working properly in my eyes.

its this one here : - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-016-HP

if u take out all your other hardware ie hdds and dvdwriters/soundcards and other pci cards perhaps just leave the o/s hdd plugged in does your machine run more stable ?

also might be worth checking the p/s volts in the bios too see how there performing and if there stable...

I would have imagined an 880watter p/s being perfect for this build even if its an hiper, but you never can tell frankly.

I would also consider ringing back ocuk for more advise but I hear there swamped atm.
