Overwatch 2 is Official

Yeah, this is kind of silly. I left myself connected while I had dinner. 40 minutes later and I can go straight into a game, nice. But... as the game is ending I get disconnected and joined to a 2,000 long queue. I think I've been waiting about 40 minutes and finally there are less than 100 people in front of me.
 
Anyone had the "bug" where you get disconnected from a game in progress, then randomly end up in another game on a different map, without warning? :D

Managed to get a few games tonight, cant say im enjoying the changes. 5v5 with only one tank makes it feel like your team is constantly stretched. You lose that tank and your team can be wiped out in seconds.

The battle pass makes me really angry, its a cash grab.

The push game mode seems decent but most people dont really want to play the objective...

But you don't need to pay to get the characters, do you? I don't entirely know how it works as I have them all already. Some need unlocking (will they need unlocking each season?), which would annoy me, but at the same time, it's a free game and I can pay if I want seems a fair model.

From what I have worked out is there is a free battlepass and a paid battle pass +, of which I am lead to believe additional characters are behind the paid for pass.

I honestly dont mind throwing money at a free game if I get the hours out of it, but ive already paid for the game. Granted I bought the game upon release but why should I now all of a sudden need to pay for content within a game I was still regularly playing?

As I understand it, going forward you will need to earn XP (i.e. play lots of games) to unlock each new hero, or buy a battle pass. I think new players not coming from OW1 also have to do the same to unlock some of the current ones.
 
Everything has carried over from OW1 for me - so battlepass or not - makes no difference - all the characters/achievements are there.

I see you can still play ridiculously well and still loose...

Literally don't know what else I could do personally in this game.

41 elims/37 assists/20k healing and we still lost....

Not sure how much more I can take playing as well as I can and still loosing....And of course the usual "healing was crap" comments at the end - Me and Ana do nearly 38k between us... Still not enough supposedly....

Ive just googled it re: paying for the heroes....

Are Overwatch 2 heroes free?
If you owned Overwatch 1 before June 23, you get an extra season to log in and get the two heroes for free. As long as you get into the game before the end of season 2 in February 2023, you'll be able to redeem the Founder's Pack for them. After that, you're out of luck
 
You need to get to tier 55 to unlock Kiriko on the Free tier. I feel like I won't end up playing enough to unlock the new heroes if they're that high, so uninstall just seems inevitable for me.
 
So... do I as a OW1 player and Watchpoint/Battlepass purchaser have instant access to Kiriko? (I've not even tried yet tbh) Is it because of OW1 or the Battlepass?

Funnily enough, I've never been one for jumping on the new classes. I've still barely played any Sigma or Ashe for example...

With the Season One Premium Battle Pass you will instantly unlock Overwatch’s latest hero, Kiriko, and can unlock over 80 tiers of rewards including 5 all-new Legendary skins and the all-new Cyber Demon Genji Mythic Skin. In addition, as a Season One Premium Battle Pass owner you will receive a season-long 20% XP boost.

The hero, and allows you to be able to unlock all the Premium rewards in the battle pass it seems. So you pay £10 for the hero, some grind reduction and some extra rewards for grinding. Pay an additional £10/12 for a 20 level skip.

Edit: shouldn't be surprised, fairly sure the Necromancer in D3 was around the same price. Alternatively, with Grim Dawn you paid the same amount for 2 classes (one being a necro, probably why they did it) and a sizeable expansion.
