Last night was a great example of why I still enjoy this game so much and also why I can't understand people that think you don't have much influence over the result.
Using LFG I got in what turned out to be a really good team. We all communicated, one guy didn't have a mic, but was listening and happy to change if requested. We had one guy with lots of ideas of how the team comp should be, but he was polite and often spoke a lot of sense, so we generally adjusted as we went through games. After each game, I think at least one person left each time, but the replacement slotted right in and we carried on. We won 5 and lost 1 game.
One game, I'm getting owned as Soldier by their Reaper. He was quite aggressive, wraithing in and taking out people in back lines, or taking me out flanking. One on one, he beat me each time I think. We went 0-1 down and I think I have 2 elims... embarrassing. I switched to Mei, who I haven't played in comp in possibly years. It worked great, we won 2-1 and I think I finished with silver elims. Their Reaper didn't change off, silly boy.
Another game I was Soldier and other DPS was a pretty good McCree. They had a Phara. Their Phara was owned. Their Phara didn't switch off. They lost quite badly.
For me the most amusing one was Kings Row. We pushed, we did okay. They pushed with Goats and walked right through us. I swapped from DPS to Zarya (When I make a team I go 2 tanks, 2 support and 2 anything slots). I don't think I've ever played Zarya in comp... massive risk and I expect if any of my team checked my comp time on Zarya they would have told me to switch out, but it worked amazing. I even ended up with POTG as I cut through 3 of them as we pushed the cart to victory.
I make out like my changes won the games, I'm fairly sure everyone was making changes to adapt and that's why we were so successful. I still have a pretty good win rate this season, 59.5% after 89 games.
