Overwatch

In plat if you tried to take every match seriously you would go insane.

Im starting to agree with this. I had such a rough time getting out of silver into gold, but playing some matches at Plat level early this season with you makes me realise that its no better either.

As a result I just enjoy how all the games pan out. And even enjoy the saltiness here and there.

I've climbed a bit lately to around 2700 again... but it's my account so it'll get smashed down to 2400ish pretty soon I expect

Separately I did my placement games for comp CTF solo... Won 9/10 games playing mostly Zarya and Winston, and made at least 1 cap myself in most games (2 or even 3 in some)... pretty pleased with myself until after the 10 games my SR is only about 2000... oh...I guess it's still some extra comp points but I don't know what I could have done better

Did you play it last year and maybe place lower and this is carried on?

I hadn't even realised ranked ctf had started again.

Last time round I picked lucio and done nothing but grab flag and run home. I only played for 1 hour and got masters.

I might have a go now and see what I get. My lucio is better now so I should do ok.

edit: Just to add I had one match and it was full of masters so must carry on from last season.

I've been thinking a bit more about the rip tire vs death blossom... I think DB wins if the tire rolls along the floor towards you, but tire wins if it drops down on you, or pops up over a ledge.

I think in lower ranks too many players panic when Reaper gets in their faces, but higher ranks may be different. Tanks are obvious targets for reaping health back, get in really close to all but Hog, because he can do huge damage with a point blank headshot... hold back a couple of meters and jump around a lot so he can't hook you. However, taking out a Mercy or Ana with 1-2 shots can really change a fight. My current tactic is to try get into the back line, get a healer first, then get the second healer only if close and you still have high health, otherwise move onto a tank to regain health. If you can take out one healer and one tank, the team fight should be won.

Can you use Lucio speed boost when carrying the flag? Generally the flag is dropped when heroes use movement abilities.

Ah yeah, that could be it... I probably did placements last time too but can't recall how they went, but it's no suprising really; it's just like Overwatch to ignore actual performance and shoehorn you straight into whatever rank it's decided you will remain in forever :p

Yeah you can use speed boost but you can't amp it up or wall ride. You can however pass the flag to someone else then speed boost and amp it up to fly home with the flag.

That's the way to do it I think... send in a roadhog for the flag, with lucio and zarya in-tow... his own crazy healing helps him not die as he waddles up to the flag and then it's easy to speedboost and bubble him as you all retreat

Edit: And whole-hog/grav are equally good ways to stop them chasing after you

I've always wanted to get a good capture the flag team... Lucio, Hog, Sym, Mei... various choices for the last 2 slots... Zarya grav and bubble, Brig shield bash and armour, Torb or Bastion on defence, Sombra to spot and hack, maybe even Ashe throwing Bob at the flag to create space.

Something I forgot to mention in my Reaper post... huge benefit from reload-melee animation cancel.

This ones nothing special but I found it funny, they almost captured the first point and the rein tried to push forward, I teleport onto the point and the hanzo is totally unaware, so many times Ive seen people switch off for a second before they even cap the point

and other reaper, against teams who don't know how to counter him you can just walk right through

Well played!!!!

I didn't have to do much in ctf, it still had my rank from last time.

I had a little grind on it last night I decided I don't like it. It's a real miss match of skills.

Also it's only 25 points a win or loss so unless you are going to play 1000's of games it's going to be impossible to catch the guys that placed higher first time round.

It seems a bit broken.

Yeah reaper seems so good right now his ult can easily stop point being capped. With the armour nerfs even the tanks get shredded and as long as you don't instantly die then the healing is to high for anyone to stop you.

So here is my reaper POTG from last couple of days, it's very much work in progress, I never really had to aim on overwatch the hardest I used to do was hit a firestrike/whip shot.

If I could get my aim a little tiny bit better I will start to climb some sr but right now a lot of the time Im dying just split second before my wraith is ready, currently around 2300sr.

I think I got some good potg's though,

This last clip was a 6v1 with them focusing me, this saved the point, also at the end of the clip im pretty much just shooting the floor lol.

In one of my games last night as Reaper (in comp) there was a moment where they wiped our team apart from me and our Mercy (who were out of sight halfway around to a flank) and with barely 10m to go for the Payload, managed to drop in on them as they were teabagging atop the cart and wipe the whole team, ult was only at 30% when I dropped in but it hit 100% after about 2 seconds of point-blanking people... (We still lost sadly as they had plenty of time left to regroup and win a team fight)...

Our second match on Horizon I managed to get nearly 3 ults in one extended teamfight trying to take their 2nd point... 3 ults!
