Overwatch

In one of my games last night as Reaper (in comp) there was a moment where they wiped our team apart from me and our Mercy (who were out of sight halfway around to a flank) and with barely 10m to go for the Payload, managed to drop in on them as they were teabagging atop the cart and wipe the whole team, ult was only at 30% when I dropped in but it hit 100% after about 2 seconds of point-blanking people... (We still lost sadly as they had plenty of time left to regroup and win a team fight)...

Our second match on Horizon I managed to get nearly 3 ults in one extended teamfight trying to take their 2nd point... 3 ults!

How do you get 3 ults without having won the fight already? Surely the damage needed to gain so much ult charge is also enough to take out their team? Impressive!

It was the second point and they managed to stall it for quite a while by switching to annoying stall heroes like Mei, Hammond, Lucio, Tracer and so on...

I played Reaper for most of last night, and found I died to Mei more than anyone else.. she has slightly more health than other DPS, and is invulnerable during heal (compared to Hog who can't help giving you health back)... if Mei starts to freeze you then your firing rate drops, damage and healing is reduced... doesn't always end well :(

Generally had a harder time last night, though still got plenty of gold elims and damage, and a few POTG (also a weird play of the game that someone else got that showed them killing 1 hero, while I was doing a Death Blossom in the background killing 3). I think teams are wising up and focusing down Reaper faster, and I had a lot more matches against good Hanzo and Widow players... still can't outheal a Hanzo or Widow headshot.

Hog is an interesting pick right now... a good hook/shot/melee can delete a Reaper, but if you miss the hook then Reaper comes out with an elim and full health.

Is everyone else content with body shots primarily and making sure they all hit, or are you focusing on headshots with Reaper (or high body with a little spread into the head as a bonus)?

As a Mei main, I love shutting down Reapers, so satisfying. However, Reaper is in my top 3 toons, Reaper, Widow and Mei, Mei being my top pick 90% of the time.

If mei is about just save your wraith until your almost froze then wraith away and just stay away from her until it's ready again.

She really can't do anything to you if you have your wraith ready.

But it does force reaper to play much safer and stop him going in as much.

I think hog is only a good pick right now if you can hook and headshot reaper.

To be honest I miss the goats meta... almost every single game I've had since the patch has basically been a game of "babysit the reaper" where both teams are completely built around supporting their reaper and countering the enemy reaper... if they do that better than your team does it - gg...

Maybe at some ranks goats was a huge problem but in mid-plat I probably saw a goats comp maybe one in every 10 games and half of those times it wasn't being played properly so was easy to counter even without going goats yourselves... and outside of goats the comps people were picking had become more interesting and varied than I can remember in a long time - there were actually several strategies you could use to try and win and you could make comps that contained most of the heroes on the roster...

But now we're back to a reaper pocketed by both a mercy and a moira with zarya bubbling him constantly and a rein shield to pop behind in the hugely unlikely event that he drops below max hp, on both teams, every single game... so exciting

I've not really played any COMP to make a valid comment on the changes.

I don't really enjoy the stress of a Solo-Q and my experience in LFG is so hit and miss (mainly miss) that I avoid it most of the time.

The games I have played in QP though it does seem easy to take out a reaper, if attention is given to him properly.

I agree with Musty. I've played him a lot of the last few days and against some teams I'll end up swapping out to someone else pretty quickly if they know how to counter him, a good mei is always going to make you rethink.
Against an unorganised team it's a different story alltogether

Personally like uncle rufus I miss the old game. Mainly because it suited me perfectly and all my favourite characters were strong in the meta and I could carry with them.

Im really hoping they revert the armour changes or buff one of the characters im good with.

Your Lucio looks pretty good right now, and Brig is definitely still viable at gold rank, so still a good choice when playing with many of us. Worth noting that Brig's shield bash can stop Death Blossom, so Reaper won't get all his own way.

I think you are looking quite good with Pharah lately, which is (of course) a huge Reaper counter.

So I have been playing some Ana in QP last night. Not quite sure why I have not played her more if I am honest.

Shes VERY different to what I'm used to, but REALLY good fun.

Also her Anti melts reaper, which is great!

Managing to hit some more of her sleep darts too, which is something i always struggled with before.

Yeah she is very much in meta now, almost a must have pick on your team.

Also team up with decent genji and combine ults for easy win.

Funny, I was playing Ana in QP last night too. It can be frustrating if you miss with a few of your heals and your target is jumping about trying not to be hit, but I love the long range healing aspect and as you say, love the anti heal.

If you want to see some intense Ana play, check this out... the high altitude 'nades are truly mental.

Where you been imginy! Keep logging in most nights and your never on :(

Sorry I uninstalled it.

Game just is not fun for me right now.

I will play again when something changes but right now all the characters im good with got screwed over by armour changes.

I don't wanna play rein or monkey that just get melted. No fun for me just standing there with shield up. I enjoy playing agressivly.

I could play lucio but as he doesn't kill reaper im often forced to switch off him and play brig. But brig is just an empty shell now, her armour is what kept her alive and able to keep swinging and if she isn't swinging she isnt healing, plus her ablities and ult got nerfed and on top of that everyone is playing reaper counters which also shut down brig. really no fun at all playing brig right now.

I know im being bit of baby but if it isn't fun for me right now im not going to play it. I will keep following thread and keep and eye out for any ptr changes.

At this point im hoping for a rework on brig or mercy.

After a really good run with hog last season winning a lot of matches and coming away with medals every game I got up to 2800. Finally felt like I was making good progress with the game and a character I liked, then came the patch and I've been on a losing streak since.

Down to 2300, with every game having a reaper hog isn't always a good pick, like someone said above he is a walking health pack for reaper.

So I've dropped hog for the time being and started to flex. I can play one character from each group well which I think is important.
It's good to have a main but it's also well worth knowing how other characters work and play giving you a better understanding on how to counter them.
Playing different character also helps to keep the game fresh.

I played a few comps with Lucio last night and he seems a good counter to reaper.
If you see reaper hammering someone speed boost in and boop him away, if you can keep him at distance he's easier to manage.
Won 3 games in a row and got gold elims in one, did have a good team as well though.

As for the patch I'm not really sure what they where trying to achieve.
If it was to stop goats its not really working.
Goats was never an issue at low to mid ranks and as I'm aware reaper isn't getting played at the higher ranks and goats still dominates.
It's good they are keeping the game fresh but it's at the expense of upsetting a lot of the player base.
