Overwatch

Only a couple hours into this so still learning the ropes but really enjoying it so far, would be awesome to get some games with folks from here, I'm new to the battle.net thingy too, have no friends on it and finding my way round it, feel free to add me, any advice or constructive criticisms in game is appreciated.

Do we have a spreadsheet or anything like in the CSGO thread for adding ID's etc?
 
I just had the most mental game.

Gibralter - Delivering the payload. We steamrolled to within 3 meters of the end point with 5 minutes to go and then lost!

They had 3 Reindharts at the end and a really good Widowmaker. Not a Bastion in sight.

Yeah escort missions are usually tough for the offence. What were your team running?

Ideally you need heroes capable of pushing and disruption, to keep the opponents away from the vehicle so it will still move. Reinhardt, Winston, Lucio, Hanzo (for his ultimate), Soldier 76 (always good for pushing), Genji (to reflect Bastion) etc.
 
Got my first PotG with Mercy, a rather sweet 4 man res on the defence point as the op pushed attack.

Can't help thinking you should got a loot box or credits for a win though. Or as levels play no role perhaps keep the XP they same between levels.
 
Yeah, I know they don't want to give out boxes/credits too easily so that people buy them instead but they really are given out too slowly at the moment especially when the sprays & voice lines are pretty much worthless.
 
Surprised how much I'm enjoying this, wasn't sure after a little play last night but have played for several hours today and its great fun. Still very much learning and haven't even tried a lot of the heroes so far, but I think I'll be playing a lot of this. Seems like one of those games I'll keep coming back to as well, like I used to with TF2.

I'm rather suspicious of the 'RNG' on the boxes since release. Compared to beta the chances of rares and legendaries seem greatly reduced, skins in general are much rarer and ..... tin foil hat on ...... I have been getting lots of unlocks for the heroes I don't play and very very few for the heroes I do play.

I hear you fellow tin foil hatter. During the last beta wave I got to rank 30 and had 6 legendary skins and a good selection of purple ones. Now im level 28 and bought an extra 22 loot boxes (for shame) and have 3. Rocket fuel cant melt steel McCrees! WAKE UP SHEEPLE! :eek:

It's probably a bit reduced yeah but seems balanced between ones you pay for and earn. im rank 26 now and bought 24 crates. out of 50 i got 4 of the gold skins and 1 gold credit drop (500 credits) only 2 of the gold skins were from the 24 i bought and they were both in the same crate...........same skin, can you believe that, at least it was one i wanted though.

I would hope there isn't a different drop rate for boxes you buy than those you earn in-game, but since this is Blizz nothing would surprise me.

Wish you could credits doing daily quests like in Heroes of the Storm.
i.e Win 3 games playing as Support.

yeah lucio is my most played as well, trying to play pharah a bit but that's just if i have the luxury of picking anything. only really play 5-6 characters most of the time. I basically have primary and secondary for each of the 4 classes and wont break from that unless I'm on a really poor team and have to.

- a weekly "brawl" which unlocks 1 pack when you beat it,
- an ever rotating set of special quests "win X games as class Y" which earn 40 - 70 in game credits when complete
- a standard +10 credits for every 3 wins

As for the rate being tweaked... I think it's been about the same for me - I got to lvl 20 in the beta and I think I had about 3 or 4 legendary skins... currently at lvl 31 in the release and I think I had about 3 or 4 (different) legendary skins by lvl 20 (not counting the ones from the Origins edition). True none are for classes I actually play, but whatever :p

Actually I was just going to post something similar. It would be nice to have a daily/weekly event that allowed you to earn credit you could spend on the unlocks you want.

Also having objectives would be really good, heal so many point, block x damage, melee kills. Something along those lines, might tempt people that don't use other toons to try something new.

Exactly that... I think they will do something - although I suppose the difference here is that in Hearthstone the packs/cards are central to the experience of the game. They have to allow you to unlock packs regularly somehow or you would quickly lose the players who don't want to spend money on packs, since they would struggle to keep up and build a competitive deck...

In Overwatch the skins and other items are pretty damned cool, but that's all they are; nobody needs them to be able to compete and they offer no advantages (which is most certainly a good thing!)... I wonder if that might make Blizzard less likely to be as generous with unlocking more boxes/credits though

My guess would be that we won't see any such changes anytime soon to the loot boxes as Blizzard have no reason to change it. Some people are clearly happy to pay for a chance to get the skins they want, which I don't have a problem with.

I don't like DLC but if we have to have it then Blizzards approach of making it purely cosmetic/vanity seems a good way to go.

I played him a bit last night.
He is very fun to play and is quite deadly from range but as you said hes very squishy you have to read the game well to keep out of harms way.

I can see him being very important in comp teams focusing fire with his debuff could be very effective.
 
Had a few days beak from this and come back to totally mismatched teams. First two games both were like a team of 50+ ranks vs 20+ and lower.
Not fun Blizzard. Solo queuing officially broke for now. IMO
