OZONE 3D SOFT SHADOWS BENCH

Not a very good benchmark then is it eh? Shows driver performance and not Hardware performance.

No einstein, it shows HARDWARE performance is DRIVER related.

WoooooW, I've just realised something.....HARDWARE performance is directly related to DRIVER revision.

Did you even THINK about your response before you typed it?

Just like if you don't tweak your display driver your 3D MARK score will suffer. So stock runs of 3D MARK 06 don't really show hardware performance either since everyone could have they're HARDWARE rendering different levels of quality for example?

Oh well guys, no need to OC or bench anymore...nothing is set in stone so whats the point?

yes you're right. Without driver, hardware is nothing ;)
This benchmark is focused on a particular topic: dynamic branchings in the pixel shader (along with many texture fetch for the shadow edges)
and that seems to be very driver-dependent especially for NVIDIA cards.
Maybe these differences between drivers in the branching management are due to the new g80 architecture that has involved serious changes in the graphics driver.
By the way, what was the forceware version at the g80 release ?

Bench seems dodgy to me, people getting half the scores of others with the same card and drivers. Not pointing the finger or anything but there must be some driver/performance hack for this bench. :o

I need 8.41's ;)

OK, I have just lent my 6800LE (O/C'd) to a good friend so he can play medal of honour: airborne with it, and I am on my backup card. That card is a 5700LE.

My overclocked score was 16 with 5700LE @ 275/450

MIKE HUNT: Beat that you big jessy ;)

Just watch out... I'll be going for a massive score of 17 tonight (I have to do something on these long nights... plus my wife is working till 9:30 tonight lol :D)

Not sure what overclocking possibilities (bios/volt mods) there are for the 5700LE, but I need to keep ahead of Mike's.

I think its only testing something very specfic that most gfx would struggle with. You might get some strange results, I doubt it can use sli?
Im not sure if crysis has soft shadows or uses some entirely new technique that makes this whole benchmark redundant.
