Pascal Titan-X Launch

So we're still not at a card that can consistently churn out 60@4K across all of the popular titles?

Fingers crossed we get there for the 11XX series then.

Just bought a Nitro OC+ 480, which seems to cover 1080p fairly comfortably. Won't be upgrading until whatever's out there does the same for 4K.

By the time next titan comes out games will be even more advanced so really this titan is as good as it gets in till we get a fully fledged card with all 3840 cuda cores. I'm willing to bet the next big Volta titan will have a good go of 5k

Fingers crossed.

Will be upgrading my TV later this year and would like to have a decent 4K capable card at some point next year.

Almost blasphemy on this forum to use a TV these days instead of Freesync or Gsync, I know, but it's what I use.

A good UHD TV is fine for gaming these days as long as it does 4:4:4 chroma
My Samsung is better than the Phillips 40" monitor I had a lot better.

I suspect Volta Titan will do min 60 fps at 4k as it will be aimed at 5k and above screens or even 4k VR (dual 4k screens)

So we are almost there.

Of course soon we will have 120hz 4k screens and we will all be complaining cause there isnt a card out to driver every game at 100+ fps :p

I'll be happy with a rock steady 60@4K myself.

I daren't try Freesync or Gsync as I know once you've tried it there's no going back.

Never seen so much willy waving and slave to benchmarks in all my life, and my first nvidia was a Riva 128.

Someone asked earlier what do you use it apart from games and got ripped a new one. It's a good question though, it seems they are used for benchmarks and being of interest on forums, the social media side.

Which is fair enough. Enjoy the adulation.

SLi Titan X ? More money than sense is my summary, at least when it comes to games, and the new DX12 games etc are not that much cop anyhow. Go figure.

;)

So what, if you can afford it why not?

They are lots of unnecessary items bought every day. Our foreman at work has just bought a £2k cycle frame. He doesn't even compete, just rides as a hobby.

The average cost of owning a horse is £3,600 per annum. My gf owns 5! I spend much less on my pc than she does on her horses.

Good points, but at some point you have to wonder if the geek with a soldering iron has been overtaken with a social media guy with a big fat wallet.

The hunt is still the same, the hardware rather than the game, the benches and overclock rather than 120 v 118 fps in some game where you cannot, if you are playing the game as meant to be played, do not care anyhow as you are fully into it.

The two need to be separated.

Enjoy your hardware, never make an excuse for making the game better though. In 2016 that does not wash.

Seen a few people mention 5k gaming soon. I wouldn't worry about having it, i have the dell 5k screen and compared to 4k at 27" it's not worth it at all, very small increase you won't notice, 4k is enough. 1440p to 4k at 27" now that's a noticable difference.

4k at high hz will be a much more interesting propostion to have. Got out my old 144hz 1080p and had forgotten how smooth it feels to 4k mid 40's fps with g-sync. Until a gpu can do 80-100 fps ultra settings at 4k i'm happy with 40-50fps with g-sync i reckon.

You aren't going to last 5 minutes on this forum if you carry on like that little big man ;)

I think you're lost, BHS went into administration some time ago, this is a forum for people with a passion for something.

Back in tut' your day (I had one of those also) things were cheaper, yes. So was petrol, and pastries.

That's excluding Kaap, though. He bought 4 of the things when NVIDIA aren't even supporting it. That's an example of someone trying to remain relevant, no matter what way you cut it lol

Also, VR opens the floodgates to some of these requirements.

i would have to agree with ganddahar though....

i mean seriously 4x titan x LMFAO, did i not read somewhere that 3 and 4 way for games are no longer viable... via nvidia as they said so them self`s so i can only guess paying that much is just for epeen and synthetic benchmarking with for the price you paid you really are not getting much lol for the 1000 pounds worth of hardware... other than to show off, just my opinion though.
the only thing i dont agree with him is that 2x titan x sli is fine but i have to agree with im on 3 and 4 way sli its pointless.
