Path of Exile 2

Finally cleared the first trial and finally become a titan at level 30. Having 20% movement speed using Wanderlust unique made the rooms a bit easier for sure.

Also it looks like + level to skill on weapon is hard to change. I got a lv22 weapon with +3 melee and higher lvl mace with more phys attack doesn't give more dps in skills sheet

Are there any mods to change the UI? Default UI sucks hard and there is almost no options to change it in the settings. I'd also like to see damage numbers.

Oh and what's up with being able to pause the game, that seems super lame

I play at 4k and the map is awful. Depending where I am in the game, half the map is off the screen so I have to go into options with the map open and make it smaller. I then move to the next area and the map is too small to read so I have to go into options again to make it bigger. It's doing my head in. Also for a brand new game the whole interface is visually old and ugly. I get they are trying to capture Diablo 2, but come on have some ingenuity devs.

The only thing Diablo 4 does better then this game so far is the cutscenes  and it’s only in early access!

Being able to equip any 2 weapons (as long as you have the requirements), so in affect you can use 2 classes abilities is brilliant, so many different combinations.

Currently a mercenary but also got a quarterstaff with the frost & bell abilities from the monk :D

I know these are two different games so I don't think it's fair to compare them they're doing totally different things. But if you want to compare them then these things I like more: better user interface, easier controls using a controller, better menus and maps, less trying to nickel and dime with micros, larger maps with group play and raids like an mmo, faster and smoother combat and movement and better graphics

things I can see poe2 has going for it: weapon and skill variety, darker themes

<friendly dig> I'd rather a game with an ugly UI, diverse character options and content over a game with a pretty UI, the same copy pasted dungeons, barely any endgame and 5 builds :P:P:P </friendly dig>

I would disagree with a number of the points above quite strongly, but at the end of the day everyone has their preferences and feedback is there for GGG to take forward to consider and hopefully make improvements where they can.

I think my main takeaway for many people yet to try or who are on the fence to consider is that there's a reason that this has been separated from POE1, it's a different game right now, and will likely continue to be very different, just because you like POE1 doesn't mean this will gel with you right off the bat.

I don’t get the hype. It’s good but it’s not changed the arpg genre or moved anything on. It feels like what wow did to with dragonflight or war within, I’d say it feels like an expansion not a new game.

What am I missing for it to have this title?

Gameplay feels clunky, it’s not particularly difficult due to good mechanics, it’s just enemies are all health sponges to create artificial difficulty.

Graphically it’s ok nothing special. UI is awful and looks about 39 years out of date.

If this is classed as the greatest of all time then the genre has a very low bar.

I genuinely think if this didn’t have POE in the title it would be a flop. Brand loyalty is one hell of a drug.

Play mercenary with controller, basically combining real top down moment to moment gameplay ala Helldivers 1 with the deep items / progression systems that arpg's are known for. Long term this will be a winner it can't fail because it has it all, the ARPG genre has been historically great at systems but awful gameplay for years and years, this is the future.

I’m starting to think I’ve accidentally done something wrong as my main Bow Shot on my Ranger is still my most powerful skill. (Did I upgrade it? - cant remember)

Using a combo of Lightning Arrow and Lightning Rod was good but pew-pew-ing with my Bow Shot outdoes them apart from when groups walk through my Rods.

Could just be that those skills have fallen behind in terms of scaling eg. haven't upgraded with higher level uncut skill gems or perhaps you've added support gems which have reduced damage / effectiveness in some way.

I’m not slating Diablo I love those games, played them all from D2 as a kid and even bought 3 & 4 twice. But I just feel like this does everything better (so far anyway).

I don’t get how they are different games though, apart from the names? Both the same genre? That’s like saying project cars & assetto corsa are 2 different games so it’s not right to compare them. There’s a reason that the Diablo boss was salty on Twitter about this game and got ridiculed for it.

I’d agree the UI & menus are better in D4 but everything else in this is better imo.

The depth to the combat and combinations with different abilities is mind boggling, just have to temporarily change my build to get past the act 1 boss (never needed to do that in D4 :D)

Also really cool that when you play co-op you can combine skills with other players.

Got my minions from the unearth skill exploding upon death - the screen gets a bit chaotic sometimes ! Exploring the mines on act two now. There’s a boss in there that knocks me dead in one hit. Might come back later :D

currently at the beginning of act3 on my monk.
initially was a struggle bus, thinking i was to ingrained into the poe1 mindset (i died a LOT). but now i'm starting to get the skills i need / want and the additional support unlocks it's coming together nicely. don't seem to have any bs deaths like you do in poe1.
every death was been warranted / being me who made the mistake. do hope the item drops / currency drops go up a bit more, i'm very starved for regals even though i've disenchanted every yellow item so far.

i do have to say, i'm not sure i'll be able to go back to poe1 after this at all. combat feels so good and satisfying.

edit: thinking about it a bit more, item dropwise / currency might be fine if you come in knowing what you need / want. but with this being brand new for every one i guess i'm wasting too much on random bits and stuff i don't need /shrug

My main complaint at the moment is the fact dodge does not also phase, that combined with the narrow corridor design, mobs that push back and spongy nature of even white mobs mean I (playing mercenary) end up kiting backwards most of the time and then running through the area I just cleared to the next pack. Knockback and cc (via chill/freeze) are not effective enough to hold a pack up enough at the moment, maybe it will improve as I get further in. If you get cornered though, its almost impossible to escape and have to spam attack/potion/dodge and hope for a gap in the mob models to appear. A phasing option for dodge (even if it say increases the cooldown or uses mana/health) would be appreciated. Or a blink type skill even.

I'm fine with the boss design, they are a step up from PoE1 early bosses but nothing unbeatable and moves are well telegraphed, where I've struggled its generally taken a quick review of gear and maybe another level and I've overcome them relatively easily. Just starting Act 2 now so will see how it continues, but I'll continue to chip away at it slowly in the spare time I have.

Flashbang and Ripline Ballista are reasonable cc tools.

I've been using gas grenades but they're now the 3rd skill getting nerfed, to some degree. Imo they should reduce the explosion dmg but put a multi on detonators to get it back to the original dmg. That way flame wall is weak. Will make it weaker for bosses that cover the floor in ash as well. I absolutely nuked every boss that did that.

i've come to the realization, that i was using dodge too much. from what i can tell dodge doesn't cover more ground than straight up walking/running. it just creates an initial gap, but then you have to wait for the character to stand back up. So i've been using it to avoid big boss slams. and in normal fights i just walk while attacking at the same time which is yielding better results. until i make the mistake and get myself cornered

re blink - there is an item for it, if you really want it.

I finished the act 1 boss last night after several attempts. Rather than grind higher I just kept running in because none of the deaths felt like I could not do it, just felt like I was playing like a numpty, which was true, because my killing run was less the perfect run and more I made a couple fewer mistakes and my positioning was better to take advantage of openings.

What I think needs to improve is actually a bit more hand holding. It seems to me that to progress gear wise you need to a) fully explore maps and b) actually use all the tools available. Use the orbs you find on decent bases, put the runes into your gear, go look at the merchants every level or 2 to see if they have that new upgrade item, se the salvage bench to get the shards needed to add sockets to good gear.

When you combine all of that you can actually get some pretty good gear upgrades and you could enter that last boss
with 58% cold resist from 4 glacial runes + the 10% bonus you get from an early unique fight. On top of that you can have a cold resist charm which periodically gives you 25% cold resist when you get hit. I did not do that to beat the boss but if you do that, just like if you equip saphire rings vs Mervail in POE 1, you will probably have a much much easier time.

Other tips are life regen and upgrading the flasks to have a charge regen as that will also make a big difference in fights.

So I do think the tools are all there to make consistent progress but if you go at it with the typical just blast through and equip the odd good piece you find along the way to keep you strong enough then you will fall behind the curve.

I just finished that last night, so far definitely the toughest boss.

1. Copy the text from above.
2. Go into the game, then into the options.
3. Go into the "Game" tab
4. Press the folder icon next to "Item filter" (on the far-right)
5. Make a new text file in there called anything you want, but make sure you change the extension to ".filter"
6. Paste all the text in there and save
7. Go back into the game and press the item filter drop down box
8. Choose your filter, then press the reload button just next to it on the right.

It might take a few seconds for your filter to appear. If it doesn't, make sure you created your filter file in the right folder, and make sure you changed the extension to .filter

Knocked up a quick item filter if anyone wants it. Nothing fancy, but works :) Highlights the good stuff, hides most wearable "white" (normal) items, except for rings/amulets/belts. Hopefully NeverSink will have his out in a few days.
Dos not work, cannot see any loot on the ground . Or wait its the game design . One blue and one white from whole zone :)

My main complaint at the moment is the fact dodge does not also phase
Talking of phasing, I'd prefer it if they removed player collision, its somewhat of a pain to do a dodge roll and bump into another player and the dodge roll is blocked, its also vexxing when you do a shield charge and another player gets in the way and the shield charge then bumps into them and stops

Could just be that those skills have fallen behind in terms of scaling eg. haven't upgraded with higher level uncut skill gems or perhaps you've added support gems which have reduced damage / effectiveness in some way.

I've upgraded the other skill gems to Lv3, just seems that the standard DPS of Bow shot is higher, but I couldn't remember if I added anything to that skill specifically, but just looked and it's at Lv5, doing 68 DPS. :D
