Path of Exile 2

pretty balanced review, end game just sounds brutal. Very few builds can survive higher maps, one shots all over the place

Hit the skids with BlackJaw in act 3, not really struggled doing any of the bosses up till this point but this guy keeps one shotting me with the triple slam

Yup, watched it last night ... and Kripp is someone who enjoyed Ruthless mode in PoE 1. I really wish defense wasn't built solely around dodge roll ; it would be more ARPG-like if you could build up your character's "tankiness" via passive skill points & gear. Like him, I think I prefer some "chill" in my ARPGs - PoE 1 is too relaxed and version 2 is the opposite extreme. Here's hoping the EA ends up balancing the game somewhere in the middle. If GGG don't ... then they're going to end up with a game that appeals to a very niche hardcore audience. I really don't think it's their intent to "shrink" their fanbase.

Getting a buffer underflow crash in Act 3 during the orange monkey boss fight.
Hopefully waiting 20mins or so as suggested works

Yeah this happens quite a bit, I think it's due to the instance itself which is why people are saying wait 20 minutes as that causes the instance to reset. Instead, if you look at the world map with and CTRL + left click on a waypoint, you can spawn a new instance without having to wait.

In towns the FPS drops into the 30's or even below depending on how many people are in the area but for inventory management just interacting with the NPCs it is fine even if it is not ideal. I could probably turn on dynamic resolution to help out in the towns but it does not bother me enough to bother.
Towns (particularly the caravan) is pure CPU brutalising, dynamic res wouldn't do much. That's Steam Deck's Achilles' heel compared to the Z1 handhelds.

POE 2 is my first experience of any ARPG game and im loving it so far, im not sure on if you are supposed to die as much as i am but im having a blast.

Mawdun mine boss - slaps like a train. I think he's one shotted me 4 times now :D

I one shot this boss and then got totally b-slapped by the snake boss in keth about 10 times! (1 of those was my dumb cat laying on my keyboard...honest)

I'm having a good time with it. I played diablo 2 from the day of its release until about 2004 or so, and put a couple thousand hours into d3 somehow, but didn't play much Poe1, think I only beat normal difficulty.

I like that my frost mage blows up screens, and I have an amusing rotation for bosses. Blowing up damage into a freeze reminds me of mage/rogue 2's in WoW arena.

My pet peeve is more, as always, other humans. The whining is annoying. Every game, people say they want a tough game - then they die a few times, and the whining commences. This is not a hard game. I have no idea what I'm doing, and until the last few maps of act 3, I one shot the screen with one frost nova as I'd run by. I'm not a good gamer, but I do like difficulty in my games. I beat elden ring with no summons and no broken builds, just a bog standard dual weild dex. I have the gold armour on doom eternal. I played HC exclusively in diablo games. Duelist in WoW arena, which is like 1% of pvpers or some nonsense

This might sound like gatekeeping, but I hate when games are balanced around like, dads who need to stop every 3 minutes during their only hour of play for the week. Why do people with such little time feel entitled to smash through games? What do people get out of whining for a game to be made easier? To see the art assets? If you don't want challenge, what are you getting out of games? If you don't have time to play, maybe it's time to be realistic with yourself? Maybe you don't need to see every game that comes out through until the end? Whining along the way until the game is balanced around your zero effort abilities?

Near the start of the game, I got stuck behind some monsters because I didn't realize I could be trapped. I smirked and then added it to my brain and it never happened again. I think a chimp could manage this impressive feat. But I see in the new patch notes people managed to get that feature nerfed. Now you can roll out. Why? Why shouldn't you be punished for letting yourself become trapped? Isn't that what a game is? I think you can't spend 30 years telling society how special it is, and then not get a bunch of entitled dummies. It's not their fault, how could it be? They are so smart! They hate Trump! It's the game's fault. It must be bad design!

And yet, you're on a forum whining yourself. Also, wtf has Trump got to do with PoE2?

Doesn't sound like you've got very far in the game. There are sections where the player is attacked by swarms of monsters in very confined arenas ... it's near impossible to avoid becoming blocked in. Certain classes have no counter ... spells / actions get interrupted and you'll just get stunlocked until death. Monsters can also push the player character around - you can't push back. Combined with really slow character movement, an absence of mobility skills, and the fact most mobs move at twice the speed, players were dying more often to these "blocking" encounters than actual boss fights. That's what the devs telemetry showed, and that's why they changed things in the recent patch. If you need someone to take out your anger on .. may I suggest Mr Trudeau instead !

The campaign is really fun, as well as the novelty of it, so I just keep rerolling new chars lol. So I say if you enjoy it then keep enjoying it.

Endgame doesn't look appealing to me at all atm (too spoiled by PoE 1).

The limitations of the of the current state of the game are really starting to show now that I've been mapping for a little while, I would kind of agree with with some of the points in Kripp's video above, beyond a certain point things start to fall apart a bit.

I've tried messing around with different things on the build defensively, but there's not much getting away from simply eating one big hit from an enemy and biting the dust, not matter what combination of things I use. Couple that with maps that seem oddly balanced and sized at times (running any kind of corridor/crypt based map is painful with minions) and it starts to become more frustrating than fun.

Skill balance and variety issues are really rearing their head too, I've messed around with various minion combinations, but none are as good as the same SRS + Arsonist play style that I levelled most of the campaign with. I've had some really good items drop, none that are usable by my current character, but some that would suit a fire based caster and a lightning monk (had a +6 weapon drop for each), but I think I'm just gonna give it a little break and wait for the big balance sweeps to get out of the way first.

yeah I've not played since Monday, waiting to see how they change things before spending any decent time with it. It's an EA game so bound to have a lot of pretty major changes over the next 6-9 months

Ive had to give up with this. Im enjoying the game but getting really annoyed with the random crashes and system lock ups.
I had no trouble initially but in the last 2 days I've had several hard lock ups when using waypoints, where I've had to completely turn the computer off, and it worries me when this happens in case my comp gets damaged
