Path of Exile(diablo clone)

Is it too late to start playing this? Would I be far behind?

If I did start, what's a good beginner class?

Its never too late to start it, i would say choose whatever character you like they all work fine although im not sure how the duelist fairs these days since his starting area was buffed.

In PoE really any class can be anything so nothing is set in stone. Its probably a good idea to follow a guide as said above unless you really like rerolling characters.

Finally starting to get somewhere with my summoner build, took till lvl 35 before having the right skills plus getting the right equipment made things much easier. With about 19 minions though the screen is just a mess, hard to tell friend from foe :D

My other build has overtaken the summoner, lvl 50 shadow using etheral knives... ripping through packs of mobs in no time

The economy seems a bit of a mess though, I remember before open beta exalted etc being really rare. Now people in trade are shouting for 20ex for items... there seems to be some pretty wealthy people out there. Personally the highest currency I've found so far is 1 gcp, trading for some nicer gear seems unlikely atm unless things really pickup when you do maps later.

Im looking to set a farming party up guys even if its only 4 of us, couple of the things i would like to happen is no drop stealing an not going to other parts of the map until current location has been cleaned up.

Fed up of jumping through randoms tp's an ending up being the only person there an stuck in the middle of mobs on Docks lol.

Any one interested leave a reply an we'll get the party started :)

ps im on nearly every night as the mrs is watching the crappy soaps lol

Only started playing this last week and have to say its brilliant, I've hit lv 76 melee marauder and really enjoy the talent spec system to this game.

I must say I hate leveling twinks/alt's however with this game not allowing you to fully respec you get a really nice urge to level another char to try out a newer spec, im already contemplating a EK build marauder or lighting strike tank spec.

Anyone who hasn't tried this must play it, how i missed this when it came out ill never know ><

question folks....is this one of these games where you have to have 400 different key bindings and macros programmed? looking for something a bit different from my usual fps and thought I might try this out. but only if it's 'relatively' straight forward

it is. 1-5 for potions. 3 mouse buttons and another 5 i believe for skills that's all buttons :)

now the passive tree is not so straight forward :p

Been playing this for a couple of months and leveled a Ice Crit witch to 70 and a Dual Totem Ligtning Witch to 65.

Decided to try my hand at races as season 2 has begun, again with a Witch as it's my most known class. But i can't seem to figure out how some are getting near level 20 in the hour long race, most I've manged is 13 solo and 15 in group.
Anyone here raced a Witch and have any tips?

No. You'll probably use half a dozen keys, probably remaining with the defaults. No macros...in fact they might not be allowed under botting rules. I'm not sure because I've never wanted to use any in PoE.

The only bindings you'll have to set up yourself are which keys you want to use for your skills, of which you'll probably only use 4 or 5 frequently. The usual is to bind an area of attack skill to one mouse button, a single-target attack skill to the other and a few subsidiary skills (e.g. buffs and curses) to the keyboard for your other hand.

Other than that, you'll probably use 1-5 for potions as required and shift for remaining in place while attacking (because you'll probably use the left mouse button for an attack, which is used for movement if you're not targeting something attackable, and often you'll want to stay in place and chain area skills at a pack of mobs rather than run into them when the one you're targetting dies).

Yes, still very busy online, still lots of fun.

I managed to have a bad weekend and killed off ALL my hardcore characters except a mace-and-shield templar that's UNBEARABLY boring to play. Arf.

Have decided to do a few SC characters for a bit and see how I get on - levelling a new Bow-based Ranger at the moment, and loving it. Rain of Arrows + Fire Trap is really rather powerful in the early game :D

Fire Trap is powerful, full stop :p

I have a Templar built around it. My only char to finish Piety on Merciless.

What do you link it to? Assuming a 6-link item, my guess would be:

Concentrated Effect / life leech / reduced mana cost / casting speed / additional elemental damage?

That's based on a highest ever character progression of Vaal Normal Hardcore (i.e. end of act 2), so not a lot of experience!

Peeps still playing this?

Yes, quite a lot of them. It's not WoW numbers, but there are enough players to populate a city IRL.

I stopped playing completely for about a week, but I had a look at the patch notes every now and then. The latest patch brought me back because (amongst other things) it made Catacombs harder on Merciless level. The two biggest reasons I stopped playing were desync and the very slow gain of experience above ~L70. Catacombs has far less desync than Docks and raising Catacombs from L63 to L67 has made it far more viable for exp grinding to at least L80. It also increases loot values - I got a divine orb last night (only the third one I've ever had) even though my standard equipment only gives ~10% IIQ and ~35% IIR. It's the problem with higher level melee builds - you can't afford to break offence and defence to increase mob loot drops.

Not even close :p

Its a 4 socket Searing Touch. Fire Trap, Fire Trap, Fire Trap and Fireball. Amps up fire/burn damage and gives +2 to fire gems on the weapon which boosts the damage even further. Basically it lets me spam fire traps much more frequently which means you really have to spam them to run out.
