Path of Exile(diablo clone)

There are plenty of build guides on the PoE forums, for you to decide on a playstyle.
Also the streamers of the game, put up their builds within their streams.
So they are worth a look.

2 more weeks until 2.1, quite a bit to be announced...

So what's the point in differing classes?

The start point in the tree and the gems you get as quest rewards differ, so there are some builds it's easier/faster to make with a certain class. The main difference for me is the visual/audio one - some of the voice overs are just less annoying than others :D

I suppose it's a bit wrong to say class doesn't matter, but TBH as you play more you'll find that the skill you want to use as your main attack is by far the most significant thing.

One tip - get more life nodes than you think you'll want in the skill tree. If you're playing hardcore, that counts double. It's really easy to accidentally build 'glass cannon' in PoE, and when the difficulty ramps up in Act 4 you suddenly find you've hit a wall. Also, for gear, prioritise resistances and life over anything else (except move speed on boots).

Is resistance cap still 75%?

I'm on act 4 as my Shadow so may well hit that wall.

With my Marauder I remember stacking Heath, getting a load of lifesteal nodes and they main skilling my sweep attack and I was pretty much unkillable. I liked that!

75% without any +max res.
in cruel and merciless you get a penalty though. think it's -20 & -40. can't remember :p

Yeah, resistances capped at 75%.

In normal no penalty.
Cruel there is -20% penalty
Merciless there is is -60% penalty

It is something like that.

Went marauder again, axe and shield, lifesteal and loads of health and armour stacked. Unkillable again and with damage reflect stats on my armour and tempest shield half the time I can just stand still and enemies kill themselves on me :p

Bliss :D

Just finished act 4 on my marauder, first time and I was pretty impressed with the act and how the story moved on though the Voll stuff was a bit meh. I've started cruel, gone heavy in armour, health, lifesteal and resistances and with my gems group fights are laughable. Boss fights are tedious though as my damage output without groups proccing all my reflect abilities is garbage, took me abort 15mins to kill Malichrist and when they put out spike dmg I end up having to port out a lot as my flasks run out long before I can burn them down.

I'll keep a weather eye on my defence abilities but think I'll need to stack some damage abilities now.

Got so much resistance I'm still about 20-30% overcapped with the cruel penalty :p
Though chaos is at -20% :(

That trailer looks decent, been a long while since I've played this now. Probably over 2 years
Worth another look? I got fed up last time around as the rubberbanding/lag made melee classes really unfun to play.

They cleaned up the netcode a lot.
now you can do "lockstep" its a feature you can use if your ping and latency is fine and then you wont rubberband or lag anymore (desync)
There still be some issues but overall its smooth unless you play in group and some do coc cold spells :)

lockstep has solved all my desync issues, personally. I got really annoyed with several hardcore deaths due to teleporting back 2 rooms into a pile of enemies, and now I'll happily play melee all day.

That said, I've not cracked PoE for a few months - too many other games on the go.

New league starts today woot woot

Very excited, 8PM release for the UK right?

Not played any games all year as I wanted a decent break before this expansion came out.

I like the look of the new labyrinth a lot, should give a different option to end-game maps.

What build is everyone planning on playing in the new league. Despite all the hate toward Frostblades and Wild Strike, I loved them in the last patch and will probably go Wild Strike again. Maybe try out the new attack speed totem alongside.

Cant wait :)

Think im going try some sort of melee tank, my previous builds have all been rangers apart from doing the season races then i use Shadow.

Think I'm going to get into this properly, only dabbled for a few hours beforehand. Haven't a clue where to start but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

Looking forward to the new league to start, though won't have chance to play until Monday :(

Think i'll be going some kind of Spectral Throw build since they buffed it this patch I believe and haven't played a ranged class in a while.
Still astounds me how they keep pushing out the updates, improvements and new leagues so often and it's still a f2p game!

Grinding gears are a fantastic developer team imo. I think they have their f2p model perfect and I love their passion for their game and others enjoying it.

Yep GGG are a great company. Free game but they're still making decent money. A lot of old D2 players (like myself) really appreciate what they've created. I know of quite a few people that have donated over $1,000.

They said they'll continue to expand the game as long as the donations come in, so if you enjoy the game buy some stash tabs or something to keep it alive :)
