PC Gaming is ALIVEEEE

We are of that same era.

Oh to be so young, I built my first PC in 1991 and my second in 2018 and this time it’s a labour of love! About to start on my first ever custom loop, just waiting for new case to arrive to join the pump and blocks.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £617.56 (includes shipping: £12.60)

1997. I got a tube across London to Simply Computers to buy a US Robotics 56k modem. A few hours later I was logging in for my first ever game of Quake 2 online. The world has never been the same since.

PC gaming is boring as **** tbh, even the AAA titles are.
Do you mean gaming in general is then? As most console games are on PC accept for a handful these days.

Again I think this is a case of being interested in a very limited genre or just not in the mood for gaming in general at this point in your life.

I have not tried it yet but Two Point Hospital looks like a lot of fun and is a PC exclusive from what I can see.

I dont know mate, ive been playing games since around 1980 all way up to know. Ive seen and played it all, owned almost every machine you can think of. Even Grey imported consoles long before the internet even existed.
Nothing excites me anymore, i get bored quickly or i just cannot be bothered tbh. Last game i put around 250hrs into was Dead by Daylight. Not playing anything now, even pirated games which are free i cannot be bothered to play. Im not sure why tbh, just lost interest and i feel an urge to play much older games, these new games have no charisma.

There has been a couple of times where this has happened to me, but it usually lasts a year or so and something new from a franchise I like comes out and pulls me back in.

I know for a fact I will be enjoying Resident Evil 2 Remake when it comes out in January. I also look forward to Soulcalibir 6 which will be on PC. Oh and recently found out they are soon releasing Onimusha remaster which I look forward to :)

The thing is one needs to look at the bigger picture, have we ever had a period where there were so many games coming out for the PC? There used to be so many console only games, now most are all coming to PC. This why my guess is the issue is not the state of the PC market. Having said that I wish there were more deep single player games out there like Prey, Deus Ex, Dishonoured etc.

You should give Prey a chance if you have not already.

I think one of the things we have been blessed with over the past few years is a very active and talented modding community.

It's the only reason I still play Skyrim and FO4, mods have completely changed the visuals and added some great extra quests.

I was saying just this in another thread. Older games had so much more soul, they had distinct character.

I’ve been playing through a load of older games for quite some time, the only modern title that’s gripped me is Dying Light, which I’ve really, really been enjoying.

Tend to play the older titles too, occasionally there are a few appealing new releases. Kingdom Come Deliverance, Jurassic world Evo I quite enjoyed this year.

There's certainly been a lot of poop, I mean Loot box simulator It's bad enough having loot boxes in a game, but actually playing a game devoted to it.. Crazy! - I guess at least they are not charging for the boxes.

It's also good to see the Theme Hospital (TPH) remake too.

Most looking forward for me this year are red dead redemption 2 (although not on the pc :( ) and
Steampunk 2077 will be a must!, I might pick up the Work of Mercy when released a good Thriller mystery game with stunning visuals.

Other than that Pantheon Rise of the fallen is something I hope gets released and delivers the old school communal MMORPG challenge..finally!.

PC's far from dead...Great games...just not how we remember them. ;)
Bring back Barrys World, remake C&C, Sell PC games in shops and make spangles again!

Nostalgia... a power but wonderful thing...

Another recent big spanner in the works for PC gaming is the current MS game Pass deal. £2 for 2 months you can fully play (as long as you pay the monthly sub) 100 recent Xbox 1 games for £2  compare that to the ever increasing prices for PC digital games its a no brainer for many!

I think it is very much alive due to the fact that we as pc gamers can go back to an old classic and play it. I've been playing age of empires 3 this week and I love it. Great game and so much back story and info on a built in wiki style feature. They dont make them like that anymore

AOE3 is my favorite of the franchise by far. Played it online for years. Only got my online rank as high as Major from what I recall. Good times :D

The PC has the most diverse genre of games. Plus the PC has more new IP than one can keep up with. On console-land it's all about popcorn games (AAA), most of which are bland, safe and generally dull. No wonder people are bored.

The PC has always been the platform of innovation. I can't see that ever changing.

this time of year is the best time really ramps up and mp really comes to life as more people play online as the weather changes.

Yeah, we’re into meteorological autumn now and it’s so much better gaming when the dark nights come. It’s much easier to see the TV so gaming starts around 8pm now instead of 11pm.

It took me years to finally take the plunge and get into PC gaming but something doesn’t feel quite right about it. The consoles still pull me back even though I have the same game on PC and the console version is only 30fps and takes ages to load from the HDD. Is it the trophies? Is it the lack of stats and settings to pore over? I dunno.

The first one was my favorite as I love the time period but AOE3 was one that I've had from release but never really got into. I picked up the complete edition cheap on steam and I have been hooked ever since. That another reason that PC gaming is still alive and kicking - steam. Steam although not perfect has kept me locked in for many years and will continue to do so with its old and new games as well as its sales. Long live pc gaming
