PC v Mac adverts

lol, thought it was just me, I find them most pathetic and misleading, when I went to see 300 there was one ad where the mac was representing a holiday through photos and vidoes and the PC was so boring it could only do it through a piechart. About the cord popping out, it pops out easily on my dell laptop and on my previous toshiba, big ****** deal.

So, the British PC versus Mac adverts star Mark and Jez from peep show.

Mark:

- Not as pretty
- Solid in a business situation
- Plays computer games
- Hard-working
- Gets the job done
- Ultimately succesful

Jez:

- Pretty, gets more sex
- So up his own arse that no-one will take him seriously
- Extremely pretentious
- Bitter at Mark's success
- Spends so much time on "art" that he gets no real work done

You wanna get one of the new 8 Core Mac Pros, You can play an MP3 and download 7 others at the same time. It's incredible.

Its because of adverts like that one you get phonecalls like this -

"Carl here, I'm just looking at a 2nd hand PC but its only an Athlon 1ghz but my mate who is a bit of an expert reckons its not fast enough to run broadband and you need at least 3ghz"

Only if you pull it straight, if you pull it from the sides it's not going to come out, and your laptop is coming with it.

The idea of the MagSafe is it easily releases if it's pulled from an angle, it's more resistant if you pull it straight but it'll still come out.

Oh and the anti-mac brigade are full of much more misinformation (not directed to you manoz) than the ads are, I just sit back and laugh at these threads now ;)

Just out of interest how many of the people here saying anti mac stuff have ever used one for any length of time? Playing with them for 5 mins in purple shirt world doesn't count :p

^I used them for 2 weeks when doing some work experience, took getting used to but I wouldn't buy one cos I can do a lot more stuff with PCs but I'm not anti-mac, I'm just anti-misleading ads which most of them are.

Dont know if this has been covered before, but I find them really annoying as they are so Mac fan boy and false!

eg One advert claimed that when you pulled out a power plug out of a PC laptop made it crash but the Mac was fine! Another was that the PC was made for work and the Mac for the home so it was more fun!!

All adds seem to be targeting PCs made in the early 90s trying to run Vista on 128mb of RAM to a moden Mac!

I own a high spec PC, and IBM laptop and a macbook. The adverts are generally correct.

People who haven't owned both should really shut up on this debate.

Mac's. Looks nice and work fairly well.

I did have a mac mini for a couple of months but sold it as it wasn't getting used.

It will be interesting to see how apple cope with the new found popularity of OS X and such in the next few years.

The adverts are pretty funny. Most of them are completely false and irrelevant to most users (i.e Joe Bloggs).

When I was doing GCSE music we had mac's to do the composing on. Needless to say I got a pencil and loads of manuscript paper.

I then had to do my 15min composition on the mac, pressed a random button and que **** being shouted out when I was meant to be in silence. :o Luckily it was just minimised to a hidden place that I still don't know about.

I want a MBP for home though. :(

Here we have it! That is exactly right. Most people who use Macs have previously (or still are) using PCs so we are more qualified in saying which is better. The 'PC boys' who have no clue about macs should really use one for a few months, then comment on it.

/Awaits, 'but I used my m8s and it wos crap!' etc.

Heh, how I love the OS X dock.

Thought it would be a bit tricky to get my head around at first, but it works just great. The added bonus being you can just minimise all your windows when you wander away for a few minutes and any nosey passers-by won't have a clue how to open them up again :p

The only apple product I'd ever buy would be a Macbook Pro.

And then I'd install windows on it.

I replaced my PC with a macbook pro, have OS X for photos, itunes, iwork and ilife etc. all my schedules are automatically updated to my ical

I installed my legit copy of XP and plays games like Day of Defeat source, Civ 4, Eve on it also.

I have the best of both worlds, XP for games, OS X for all my digital media, photos and the like, and the fact I can take the macbook pro with me wherever I go.

Plus I love keynote and pages for any work I do (I also have an external 19" display, keyboard and mouse and 2 external HDD's, but when I have to go away or go home, unplug, carry with me :D love it!

Meh. Used a Mac at work for a while. Yes its solid, didn't crash etc. and yes I'd admit I was having a hard time getting used to it because I am used to the way Windows work. However, in the end I thought yes it looks nice, that was about it. On the PC I can do a lot more stuff, and pay a lot less for it. Plus I developed an unnatural hatred for the letter i. I wanted to iSetItOnFire.

Maybe you need an iRack to store all that stuff in? :)
