Pentagon releases UFO footage

Seems to have all been a bit of a damp squib this. For months leading up to June it was all being hyped as potentially world changing etc and it all ultimately seems to have passed with barely a bump on any sort of scale of revelation.

The report hasn't been made public yet. But it doesn't matter because it's a matter of politics, not reality. The military has already said they can't definitively explain every reported incident. The only thing the report saying that will do is reinforce the belief of the people who already believe, but that has already happened. You can see it in this thread when they claim that the mere existence of the report is proof that it's aliens on the basis that if it wasn't aliens the military wouldn't be making a report on it. The contents of the report are irrelevant to everyone. Unless, of course, the report states that it's definitely aliens and governments around the world have been working with the aliens for a while and have decided to reveal that fact now. But that's rather unlikely.

no such thing as UFO`s, there is however a thing called testing and development that is none of the publics business

There definitely is such a thing as a UFO, although I prefer the newer and more accurate term UAP (unidentified aerial phenomena) because in almost all cases what's seen is a light, not an object.

For example, some years ago I saw a light in the sky while walking home from work. That "object" in the sky appeared to be changing altitude and direction at a rate completely impossible for any craft using any technology known to me. I didn't know what it was, so to me at that time it was a UFO/UAP.

The problem is that some people wilfully ignore the 'U' part. "unidentified" doesn't mean "alien spaceship", "god", "demon", "witch on a broomstick" or anything else other than "unidentified". Secret testing of craft in development is a very plausible explanation for some of them, since we know that happens. But unidentified is still unidentified. Nothing else.

That "object" I saw in the sky moving in a way impossible with current human technology was (as I found out the next day) a powerful spotlight from a local nightclub directed upwards and reflecting off dust/water droplets in the sky. It was advertising, a thing to draw attention to the nightclub. It worked.

Your misquoting/ taking what's been said out of context.

I provided the post in which you said it. Anyone who cares can judge the context of your very clear and explicit statement.

I'll put a direct link in here:

I'm surprised you've done this?

Since I can't read your mind, I can't answer that question. If you don't know whether or not you're surprised, how on earth am I supposed to know whether or not you're surprised?

Why am I arguing with a faith-based position? I know that's a futile endeavour from my experience with young earth creationists. Although I can answer my own question - I do it because I'm annoyed by people claiming faith is rational, proven, logical. It's not.

*shrugs* who knows. I mean there's so little to go on in the first place that the whole thing is tantamount to being completely meaningless.

Yes, that.

Maybe it's aliens.
Maybe it's gods.
Maybe it's future humans time travelling.
Maybe it's Tinkerbell the Faerie.
Maybe it's wizards.
Maybe it's Santa Claus riding his sleigh for testing purposes or just for fun.
Maybe it's one of the mundane explanations that have turned other unidentified aerial phenomena into identified aerial phenomena.

But without significant evidence, what is unidentified is just that - unidentified.

well he must know it was there unless he just randomly gets his phone out because the phones camera is the only reason he sees ghosts.
in which case its a moron

Yes i should have been more clear, no such thing as Alien green men type UFO action going on.

As you said, there is certainly unidentified stuff for sure.

But if you really acknowledge it as unidentified you can't say for sure that it isn't "Alien green men type UFO action". Or anything else. If it's unidentified, you can't say for certain what it is or isn't.

True i cant say for sure but i just think its so far in the realm of fantacy and make believe

You could also see many many unidentified stuff at Sea but nobody ever claims they are Aliens, then the bogus story changes to mythical Sea monsters and Ghost Ships

And in the past UAPs were widely claimed to be gods, angels, demons, signs from the gods (very popular "explanation", that one), etc. It's always been common for people to shy away from saying "I don't know" and fill in with whatever fits their beliefs. People tend to be very uncomfortable with not knowing. I am slightly surprised that unidentified things apparently at sea haven't been included in the shift from "supernatural" to "aliens" as an "explanation". Maybe there just hasn't been enough publicity yet. I'm sure there are some people who think that the Bermuda triangle (which doesn't even exist - there's nothing unusual about the number of ships and planes lost in that area) is caused by aliens. Maybe they should be lobbying for the US Navy to report to Congress about it.

You could unify several strains of myths. For example, the unidentified stuff apparently in the air and the unidentified stuff apparently at sea could both be craft from Atlantis. Fits perfectly. The Atlanteans were, as everyone knows, far more technologically advanced millenia ago than any civilisation is today, so it makes sense that they would be even more technologically advanced now. And of course they would build craft for both sea and air.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There's literally no answer anyone can give you, because there's no enough information.. We don't know why he took the photo, or anything else other than there's a photo.

To me it just looks like back-scatter from the camera, literally a textbook example, there are millions of pictures almost exactly like this one - nothing new...

Claiming it's anything mysterious or that it's a UFO based on this information alone, is nuts.

Isn't there also an explanation that some chemical forces it way to the top from the bottom of the ocean and it makes it difficult to sail or fly in it?
Of course Aliens cause the chemical.

I don't know. I lost interest in the Bermuda triangle once I learned that it doesn't even exist. Given the amount of traffic in the area, there's nothing unusual about the number of ships and planes lost there.

In some ways I miss the days when I believed in supernatural things, but on the whole I think that keeping it to roleplaying in games is a better thing. Like you, I used to Believe. In my case it was aliens (as a like for like substitute for gods), Bermuda triangle, ley lines...all sorts of things. The key point in the turnaround for me was when I read Chariots Of The Gods and The Space Gods Revealed (memorably described by one reviewer as "chariot of the gods turned into a pumpkin") back to back. At least 30 years ago now, maybe nearer 40. Eh, when I were a lad :)

Very similar for me.
I'd read all his books as a young lad in t'early 70s and took it all in and then one evening around 1976 my Dad said there's a program on TV tonight about that bloke with his UFOs.
I sat down to be totally engrossed but watched a program tearing him apart.
eg in one of his books he showed pictures of Alien Spacecraft in parking spaces (like they needed them :)) but on the documentary it showed the parking spaces and it was part of the Spider on the Nazca Lines which would make the UFOs about 3 foot in diameter :)
There are people in this thread that would just say "Yeah, why can't they be 3 foot and park on a Spiders legs".
It did break my heart at the time because I'd invested so much time in Daniken but if somebody can show me simple proof I'm swayed however I still continue to have a massive interest in the subject to this day.
