I'm one of those "stupid" people who usually use their phone to pay for things - one less thing to carry/lose, and much quicker to tap my phone than fiddle around in my wallet finding the right card, and then fiddling around to put it back away again.

If the contactless system goes down I'll just go somewhere else ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Other good thing about buying with Google Wallet is it doesn't make me put a PIN in every 4 or 5 transactions like my card did.

I think so, like a contactless with the card, the card doesn't have reception either. The tech is in the NFC as an identifier, which speaks to the server. (I am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong though)

As an example, my Apple Watch can be used to pay, without my phone nearby, and the watch has no esim.

My local Waitrose has signs up mentioning their £10,000 limit for Apple Pay. I'm a peasant so I feel like I'm being mocked.

Yes, definitely. There's no reliance whatsoever on the phone or the watch having an internet connection.

Do mostly use my phone now, but always have a card and bit a cash as well.

Relying on contactless limits you to £100, these days that doesn't even fill the car with diesel.

Noticed the other week, the pay at pump allowance has gone to £120.

That I did know, the last time I used pay the pump at Asda I could only put in £99.99 worth of fuel.

I got caught out by this problem earlier in the year, never again. I always take my wallet with me now.

Never had an issue with Apple Pay. I've not carried a wallet on me for years now.
