Persona 5 - why is everyone going gaga over it?

Been playing for hours and seems to be a lot of conversations with options that don't seem to make much difference to story so far, intermixed with some combat.... (lots of tutorials) just got to a bit where you seem to have a few days before you must complete the boss. So hopefully will feel like i'm more in control of game. Story so far has been quite interesting...

From what I gather it's a slow burner. What appeals to me - at least according to a few reviews - is that all the aspects of the game have value and give some weight to your choices. Do you earn money to spend on gear, or build relationships that let you level up in other ways etc? What scares me is this is easily a 100+ hour game and I probably won't have the time to get the most out of it.

What does this game have in the way of PS4 Pro offerings? I'm guessing nothing at all?

I don't think there's much difference between the PS3 and PS4 version, so I doubt there's anything extra for the pro. I'm sure I read it was originally developed as a PS3 only game. Or at least that's where they started.

Zavvi have the Collector's Edition in stock for £99.99 still. A lot more than what I would have paid had I not derped and forgot to order it elsewhere sooner. But the question is... is it worth it (i.e. should I go for it)? Cos otherwise I'd just buy it much later on down the line when the regular verison of the game becomes cheaper. I'm almost done with Zelda, maybe another week of that at most, if I don't finish all my objectives there this weekend.

Is this still out of stock everywhere for the standard edition ? I assumed it would be readily available on release but I guess not :o Might have to buy Horizon Zero Dawn instead and get this in a few weeks time.

I think part of the problem is Atlus games traditionally have short print runs. So depending on how busy the factories are printing more disks may be delayed for weeks or even months.

Been playing this a lot recently. Also had not played a Persona game before but the gameplay is fantastic. Love how everything you do impacts your character in some way.

Never played it and videos looks very nonappealing. Can someone give a primer on what is so good about it? Is it the writing? Atmosphere? Exploration?

I am not much interested in combat to be honest.

30 hours into this now after a 10hr run last night. I haven't slept, but I regret nothing.

@Paul_cz A lot of it is the combat, its got your typical turn based combat plus some Pokemon style rock paper scissors attack type mechanics. It's also ALL of the things you can do in the game, which all have an impact on your stats or the world.

It sounds like a teenage life simulator JRPG or something. Can't quite figure it out but don't think it'd be my thing. The review ratings are hard to ignore, though.

Finished this a few weeks back, had 112hrs on my save in total from one play through. It's a great game but I honestly couldn't handle a new game+ play through straight away.

Traded it in and got pretty much back what id paid less £10.

£10 for 112hrs of entertainment is amazing value these days.

I'd never played one before, but honestly it's great! Character development is amazing and really draws you into the story.

It would have been my game of the gen so far if not for Horizon Zero Dawn.

I'd never played a previous Persona game up until this entry, I'm 90 hours in to this one and close to the end and have found it very enjoyable albeit a bit drawn out.

It's one of the most unique JRPG's I've ever played the graphics whilst not the most advanced are so stylish/ different that it doesn't really seem to matter.

The gameplay is again pretty unique and I loved some of the twists on the battle system like getting to negotiate with an enemy if they get battered or hold them up for extra money or items.

Overall very enjoyable but artificially long due to annoying puzzles in the palaces.

Do want this but with amount of back log I have and I know this takes an easy 70 plus hours to do can't justify buying it yet :/ thing is atlus games longer you leave buying em harder they are to find
