I can't believe what some people are saying here.
How can people not care what he does in such a public way. Yeah if he did stuff behind closed doors and hurt nobody but himself, then it might be ok.

I wonder if he realises that probably thousands of young impressionable kids see him as some kind of idol and are convinced that doing drugs is ok because of him.

And as for his music. Well, its below average at best.

yeah, I'm sure there are people who are old enough to know what heroin is who also don't know that it's dangerous. If people want to do drugs, they're going to whether or not musicians do it. Do you really think Pete Doherty's a good advert for doing heroin? does it occur to anyone that that's why we see so much of him? because he shows people how drugs like heroin wreck you!

Unfortunatly there are too many people that see people like Pete Doherty doing drugs like heroin, but think that its a "cool" thing to do and do it anyway regardless of the consiquenses. Which don't always only affect the drug taker.

It's impossible to tell if a person has HIV or not. Although I do know a lot of people will attribute the pale, sickly look to HIV because there is a correlation between hard drugs use that cause your appearance to decline, and contracting diseases such as the one we just mentioned.

Still, pretty stupid thing to say.

I associate the pale and sickly skin because thats what I have seen in HIV sufferers.

99.9999999% of people with HIV look 'normal'.

if those people think that Pete Doherty is cool for doing heroin, then I expect they thought heroin was cool in the first place. If they actually knew the REAL truth about what heroin can do then they wouldn't think it was cool at all. It's not Pete Doherty's responsibility as an addict to educate people to the dangers of heroin - especially considering he's (potentially) the product of a lack of decent drug education anyway. If people still do heroin when they see what a monkey it's made of Pete Doherty, then they will probably be the people who will end up doing it anyway.

I don't think he's a bad role model at all, it just depends if you look at what media coverage of him is trying to say. If people glorify that behaviour, that's not his fault!

What exactly does this junkie loser do? All I ever see him do is swagger around like he owns the place and inject himself and unconscious girls with drugs. Should be locked up and forgotten about to be honest.

You realize there are far more non-drug taking HIV sufferers ? Sickly pale looking druggies account for a tiny portion. It's becoming borderline stereotypical when people say HIV/AIDS sufferers are pale and sickly, because there are so many uninformed people out there who just assume they look that way because of the disease, it's not, it's because of the drugs themselves.

The endless manufactured rubbish that the pop music sector keeps churning out are far more vile. Doherty (to some extent) and Winehouse actually make decent music. Those generic screeching girls and crooning boybands on the whole, don't.

Sums him up perfectly. I'm not one to judge people about the drugs they take or how much they take. It's when they're constantly in the news pretty much promoting drug use to their young role models. It isn't too hard at all to keep it behind closed doors. Just take Craig Charles for example, when the daily mail screwed him over in the taxi. He kept it away from his family, and work life.

Pete's cleary just doing for attention and to be in the media.

You might as well have a go at every other artist who have also been 'junkies' such as Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, Beatles, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Eagles, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Bowie, Aerosmith ............. anybody see where this is going?

Its nothing new however Pete Doherty's name will never be uttered in the same breath.
