petrol prices

If you have access to vagcom you can calibrate the trip computer to be pretty accurate, I've got mine within 0.5mpg don't think its possible to get it much closer unless you have a more accurate method of briming the tank right to the top.

I only have the trial version, I'd be too worried about mucking stuff up with the full one :p

TBH switching the trip comp MPG readout is the best way for me. With it switched on eveytime I nail it I think "oops" :p

No, the big boys (DHL,Stobart Group etc) absorb it to a great extent whilst many smaller private hauliers cannot afford to pass on the extra for fear of being undercut by the big boys and subsequently go to the wall due to squeezed profit margin & massive cash flow issues.

During the fuel protests of 2000, UPS were flying in supplies of Diesel using their own air fleet.
Somehow I doubt that "Nobby's haulage" could compete with that.

We (TNT) absorb some of the cost and pass some on to the customer.

We are also in the enviable position where we can finance aerodynamic trailers and buy new, economical vehicles and alternative fuel 7.5 tonne vehicles.

Like you say, the little guys just can't do that.

The govt has to make some concessions to the haulage industry, or suddenly we won't have one.

Im in Orlando Florida and i just paid the highest ive ever paid , 3.76 per gallon .

How does that compair to the UK ?

Diesel is 4.40 a gallon .

us gallon = 3.78 litres
£1 = £1.95 dollars
It's about £1.10-£1.50 petrol
(asda - service station range)

It could be anywhere between $8 and $11 a us gallon over here.
Or about £4.10 - 5.60

National average is fake, i saw probably one garage below £1.10 (asda), so the average can't have been below that.

Pretty much everywhere here is 109.9p for petrol - seems that the garages dont want to break the 110p barrier at the moment, but once they do I'd bet it will leap towards 119p pretty quickly.
