Based on? A subjective analysis, based on when you've seen them? Doesn't it matter what they achieve it a certain time (personal achievements/team honours/etc)? Does player of the year = footballing talent of the year (basically, why does pure footballing ability come into it as a defining characteristic? Joe Cole was apparently mega, mega talented, as a 'footballer', but he's never been close to player of the year... Ronaldinho was, and is, mega talented as a footballer, but when he got fat and lazy doesn't that detract from his ability and put him way down in any player of the year list?)?

It's stupid to give a list of five players who are better than Suarez, in your opinion, without explaining it at all. Simply explaining your rationale would flesh out your argument considerably, and make it worthy of note.

You did ask him to name five better players, not explain why they are better.

Why don't you post your opinion on who is or is not better.

There a handful that could fit in that bracket, though I'm not saying that's what I believe.

RvP
Aguero
Silva
Rooney
Mata (who has actually been excellent anyway)
Downing

Not giving an opinion on if those players (and others) have under achieved, but do you or other people think that actually, certain players have over achieved and the bar is set too high and then when they play at their level they actually look like they are under performing due to one good season?

Lolocaust. An excellent attitude to bring to a forum/thread you started :o :\.

No. You didn't ask him why they were better, to just name five.

You could have asked him why he thought they were better to encourage the debate in the thread, but you didn't.

It's a fairly obvious extension to the discussion, is it not? Or does everything have to be signposted patronisingly?

(For clarity, as it seems to be needed - hint: I'm looking for an answer the first question, more than anything. The second can be taken as rhetorical, if you so wish).

Other than being a more intelligent troll that Cheets, what do you offer to the Football Stadium? You rarely discuss players or events and seem to just nit pick?

You asked for a list of five. He gave you a list of five. Don't get all saint like and high and mighty because he didn't go over and beyond what you asked because, like many, he see's your continued existance in the football stadium as pointless.

Give it a rest Tummy. Moses replied to that list asking for Tom's reasoning - this is a forum, it's perfectly normal to discuss and debate things on here. If Tom doesn't want to answer, that's up to him but your post's a lot of crap. Moses has tried to have a perfectly reasonable debate, which Tom didn't want to join (which is fine).

I'm not particularly emotionally invested in any teams or players, so I just dip in where I find something of interest.

And that's great - thanks Tom! :) I'm grateful he took the time to reply, and I'd in many ways agree with the list (I'm not saying Suarez should definitely be in it, for example)... but I was curious as to his rationale for picking those five. I asked one question, which he answered... but then I chose to ask further questions . Is that so terrible?!

He didn't go over and beyond what I initially asked, which is why I asked (completely reasonable) follow up questions. Where have I been unreasonable? What's the point in discussing the relative merits of players, if opinions can't be examined?

Person A) 'I think Messi IS DA WINZOR.'
Person B) 'Cool mayte, but I <3 Ronaldo /swoon'
Person C) 'Lads, have none of you seen Stevie G play? HE'S DA BESTEST EVAR.'

All in unison - 'oh guyz, wot r we lyke - let's agree to disagree, as we can't possible critique opinions other people hold, or ask why they've adopted a certain position :)'

How boring, and pointless, would that be?!

You're missing he answered the second question too :), he said he said they are better at football, now I'm sure someone of your massive, vast interlect can understand that he means, in his opinion they are better footballers than Suarez.

You mean you dip in to nit pick and find fault, I can't remember the last time you actually gave an opinion on something :), now you're getting all anal about Tom84 not giving his opinion (which he did ~in a round about way) :D.

Super Baz to the rescue.

No, I got that, and followed it up with a question (hence why I said, 'He didn't go over and beyond what I initially asked, which is why I asked (completely reasonable) follow up questions' - questions being plural). 'Being better at football' is massively ambiguous, so I followed it up with a question .

You're more than welcome to ask my opinion on something, if you so wish. I'm pretty sure I've offered my opinion on numerous occasions, though - eg. what market value means, haha ;).

By the way, you probably shouldn't call me a troll :).

Thanks - I thought I was going crazy :\.

I think it's cute that you do all these  things :).

I'm not interested in rescuing anybody, your post was just crap. Somebody, perfectly reasonably, asking another member to explain their views on a forum is not nit picking or trolling.

It's interesting that he mainly asks Tom these things though no? :o.

Seeing as it was Tom who's post implied Suarez wasn't the best in the Leauge, the question would be directed at him.

Simply because Tom and Moses have disagreed in the past, it doesn't make his questions or posts any less valid or make them unreasonable. Had Moses said something provactive then you might have a point.

It's force of habit - the only other place I usually post (where Cheets posts, actually) has more interesting emoticons. It also easily conveys my attitude, imo.

I'm aware.

You and Cheets are cute.

I ask cm138401385103508 a lot, too.

Yes, that's two people. Well done. So, that's two people you like to 'probe' :).

It's a real shame that you don't offer your opinion more and generally look to be a member of the football stadium, as I'm sure you'd be a welcome regular, instead you look to nit pick certain posters.

Moses posts in here to nit pick a few posters, that's it.

In your opinion. I could easily say that most of your posts are simply for effect - like your post regarding Ferdinand not facing any punishment for the incident involving Torres. What were you hoping to add to any debate with what you said?

To try and get Cosimo to give an opinion, rather than just post like a news feed :).
