PFA Player of the Year Nomination's

Ahahahah.... oh they're serious.

Only 28 goals conceded this season (with a mostly ineffective Gilberto covering in midfield), 3rd fewest in the league, and no place for Toure or Lehmann?
As if.

I wasn't aware that Ronaldo had done much to earn his spot either.

I don't understand the inclusion of Ronaldo, he really hasn't done anything this season.

I don't think you can argue with Given being in the side, as good as Mad Jens has been (possibly AFC player of the year) Given has won loads of games for the toon. I do think Toure should have had a place, he's been awesome this season, perhaps going to the ACN didn't help.

It was obvious that Rooney was going to win one of them and I'm pleased he has. Not so sure about Gerrard, but then I can't think of any reason not to give it to him. I would have been happy with whoever won POTY, they've all been pretty solid through the season.

It's also good to see Billy Sharp get into the League One team of the year. His goals have helped keep Scunthorpe in League One after last years promotion. :D

Gerrard shouldnt win it.
He's done nothing in the past year.
And anyone who says the CL needs a slap. He was missing for most of the game. Hardly the performance of someone who deserves to win PoTY.

A few sports websites are reporting that he has won it though. :(

Now your not bitter there are you that Liverpool beat Milan after having a 3-0 lead :p

Gerrard has played well for most of the season and he's chipped in with 19 goals thats not a bad return from midfield now is it.
He's also a great leader for liverpool when they need something he can deliver that something extra.most teams would love to have him in there team as would most fans.

As for young player rooney is class but i'm not sure a player should win young player of the year twice in a row.
Once you win i think they should move on and not be looked over again to win it.

I always think of young player of the year as someone thats burst on to the footballing world.

I wonder who will win the football writers award?

Henry was busy being top goal scorer in the team that won the World Cup :p He was also also playing for Monaco and had won Ligue 1

He scored 3.

which means yes he was top scorer.

How many did Rooney score in the last European tournament?
at 18?
Oh yes, 4.

;)

When did he end up at juve then?
ah yes, when he was 21,
In the reserves.
But its no matter.

Bitterness has nothing to do with it.
The point is that he's won it on merit for a less than a full game.
Belive all you want to belive, but Gerrard did not play well for the whole game.

Nah i agree he didn't play well for the whole game but hey what player does?.

He's been consistent for more than a season now. And he's one of the most complete midfielders in the country if not europe.
And when he's needed the most by liverpool he's there :)

And you don't really believe do you he won the player of the year just for the amazing comeback win in the champions league final. It's the end of last season aswell as the begining of this one. Voting is done at xmas i'm lead to believe.?

Yeah why not.
But do you think John Terry or Frank Lampard would have won anything last year if chelsea had not won anything?
Winning trophies is only going to enhance your reputation as a player with clubs that win things.

We should have a poll, who thinks he would have won it depending on what he won last may.

There is no other player like steven gerrard; i am yet to see one as good at what he does. The fact is every manager would have him in his team, even ancelloti (sp?); the sheer energy he has from midfield, the drive he has, i have not seen elsewhere. Fact is he was voted by his fellow pro's, and to be honest there are no better judges than the people he plays against week in week out, so just get over it.

Spot on about fellow players voting for you. And your right Milan did want to buy him last year. But he's staying loyal to Liverpool.

The difference is that Terry & Lampard play well almost every game.
Gerrard does not.
I just dont think Gerrard deserves it. He goes missing far to often, in far too many games to be considered anywhere near as good as people think he is.
He's good, dont get me wrong, but he's a long way from being 'world class' as many over here think he is, and there were more worthy candidates to the PoTY award imo.
Just because his fellow pros have voted doesnt make the award anymore valuable really. They are just as faliable & prone to hype as the general public.

As i said earlier,i was surprised he won it,and he does have faults - going missing is not one of them

Going missing? U serious? Gerrard is a big game performer who i think has won the award for his consistency. He is the heart of the liverpool team and has influence in almost every game. As for Terry and Lampard, i agree Terry is now looking more consistent then he was before. I think he used to put himself under pressure at times and then be forced into last gasp tackles and the like, but now he is a real assured presence at the back, so no argument there. Lampard is another matter. Lampard is effective when the game is stetched. He finds space well and then can punish with his shooting. He is not as effective when a game is tight he cant control games. This makes him ineffective when the going is tough. Against Barca he was nowhere

Absolutely spot on mate.!

Going missing your having a laugh mate I think you just don't have a clue about gerrard or you've just not watched him enough.
But some of your comments leave a little to be desired about him. The guy is class and any team including yours would love to have him. ;)

He also won most influential player in the champions league last year as well ;)

That has got to be the funnyest thing ive seen in ages.

He is the heart of the liverpool team and has influence in almost every game.
Not a chance.
Last season they won more games without Gerrard!

You only need to remember what Alex Ferguson said about him:
Must be right then. ;)

Its great to hear a true profesional like Henry going off topic after making it to the CL final for the first time to congratulate Stevie G on winning. If Henry agrees with the decision and said Stevie G gave the whole Arsenal team inspiration and he should have won it years ago then who can really argue with the decision? - Nice touch Henry, shows your true class!
