PFA Player of the Year Nomination's

We are talking about Player of the Year not best player ever. In my eyes and many other peoples eyes Rooney has been player of the season. I agree with you that he'll need time to develop and he will. But using his age as a reason to not award him POTY is silly.

Edit: I don't think you're a Rooney hater. :)

TBH they prob didnt want to give him both awards so to be fair they kept both of them in liverpool ;) :p

Hope he isnt burnt out for the world cup...tbh all england players if they are not playing for anything domestically should be rested now (so basically all the Chelsea, Pool (except for cup final) and United players ) to give England the best chance for the WC.

I keep hearing Liverpool fans bringing up stats that they play better and win more games without Gerrard but they'll still back him as player of the year
I think thats mainly said when people accuse Liverpool of being a one man team. They are not saying that Liverpool are better without him just that they can still win when he doesn't play.

appears to be a relatively poor season for him compared to previous years?
As i said earlier he has scored 19 goals this season which is his best return ever and he has done it from RM so can't have been too bad a season for him. Again like i said earlier, as far as i can remember the votes were made in either January or February when Gerrard happened to be playing particuarly well.

I'm not sure why the Liverpool site is reporting that it's been awarded, since as far as I can see, it hasn't. I'm not saying he won't, it's just that it isn't announced for an hour or so.

Hell, the only thing on the BBC site is about Rooney being the favourite, as of this morning.

I guess SSN etc are waiting for the rest of the awards to be annouced (team of year etc). According to lfc forums some guys have/are watching the awards live on an arabic channel and mentioned it before Liverpool's website said anything.
Here are a couple of neutral sites with it:

If that's the case, Gerrard will be more likely to win it.

He is 20 years old.

What was Henry doing when he 20?

I think Henry was festering in a reserve team somwhere

Erm, winning the World Cup? He was also top scorer for France in the tournament, and his goals helped Monaco to the semifinal of the Champions League just a few months before - definitely not a reserve team player. So at the age of 20, Henry was doing the business in the two biggest tournaments in the world.

Read the thread man, I've already said that :p ;)

Gerrard shouldnt win it.
He's done nothing in the past year.
And anyone who says the CL needs a slap. He was missing for most of the game. Hardly the performance of someone who deserves to win PoTY.

A few sports websites are reporting that he has won it though. :(

Team of the Year:

.....................Given
Chimbonda...Terry...Carragher....Gallas
J-Cole.....Gerrard....Lampard....Ronaldo
..............Rooney...Henry

That should be Englands defensive pairing for the WC. Good to see Chimbonda get a mention he has been very good this season;Wigan and West Ham have been a breath of fresh air for the premiership.

Ahahahah.... oh they're serious.

Only 28 goals conceded this season (with a mostly ineffective Gilberto covering in midfield), 3rd fewest in the league, and no place for Toure or Lehmann?
As if.

I wasn't aware that Ronaldo had done much to earn his spot either.

IMO

Player of the year: Henry

Young player of the year: Rooney

People say Henry hasn't been as good this season yet he has still scored 23 goals in the Prem alone and is top scorer despite missing a handful of games.

And how is Terry in the team of the year? lmao what a joke, people are so up that boys xxxx and I just don't understand why. Just a load of handballs and a pwning from Ronaldinho and Yakubu this season for Terry.

6 england players in the team has to be a good thing, all there on merit too.

Lehmann will never win an award that people have to vote for, he's a psyco :)
